Qatar woke up to a misty and foggy morning with low visibility on Tuesday.

The Qatar Meteorology Department acknowledged the conditions through a post on social media, stating “Continuation of observing mist to fog at most areas, causing low horizontal visibility less than 2km. Please be careful.”

The department also said the lowest temperature observed in Qatar on Tuesday morning was at Abu Samra, at 12 degree Celsius, while in Doha it touched 20 degree Celsius.

In its daily weather report, the Meteorology Department predicted it would be misty to foggy at first, with mild weather seen in the daytime and cloudy and relatively cold at night. It added that the northwesterly wind will be light in speed.

It also posted a short video for motorists, which explained in simple terms the science behind fog formation and several safety tips for driving in such conditions.

Here are some of the tips shared in the video.

* Use fog lights and low beams

* Don't use emergency lights and high beams

* Stick to the lane you are driving in

* Avoid overtaking and changing lanes

* Be alert and watch out for any hazards that may be ahead

* Use your defroster and wipers to maximize vision

* Slow your vehicle and drive at a speed that suits the conditions

* Allow more distance between vehicles

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior also urged motorists to exercise utmost caution while driving in foggy conditions.

“Due to dense fog causing reduced horizontal visibility in most areas, drivers are advised to exercise caution and take necessary safety measures,” it said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
