Every Ramadan, charity organizations and private individuals often come forward to perform heart-warming acts of generosity by extending a helping hand to the community.

While charitable organizations like the Qatar Red Crescent set up huge Iftar tents across the nation, some private individuals also do the same, albeit on a smaller scale.  

Thousands of people queuing up along the road after Asr prayer to receive free food to break their fast is a common sight.

Mohammed Al Marri, a 29-year-old Qatari, along with his dedicated team, has been providing Iftar meals to 2,000 people every day since the start of Ramadan.

Al Marri, who resides in Abu Hamour, told The Peninsula that it was a lifelong commitment.

“It’s a pledge to preserve Qatari culture and honour Ramadan’s sacred traditions, ensuring everyone can experience the true spirit of this blessed month. I started this endeavor last year and I’ll continue doing this for the rest of my life,” he was quoted as saying by The Peninsula.

Salem Al Marri, the eldest brother, said the initiative was open to all.

“We welcome Muslims and non-Muslims, whether fasting or not. Helping others is a divine act of service. In serving others, regardless of our means, we fulfil a higher purpose,” he said.

Sidhik Kunduprayambil, the family’s chef for 27 years, prepares meals before dawn to fill six large stockpots and five medium ones with chicken majboos, chicken biryani, dal, and harees.

“I’ll not get tired of doing this. My duty is to draw closer to God and share our blessings with those in need,” he said.

The initiative has been a huge hit, and people have been feeling thankful.

“I thank the management for their wonderful initiative. This has come as a big blessing for me,” said Tanzanian Khamis Ali Haji, who works for Mowasalat.
