Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani will address the opening session of the four-day Web Summit Qatar 2024 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) on Monday.
On center stage, he will be joined by other key speakers including Emmy-winning South African comedian Trevor Noah, Replit co-founder and CEO Amjad Masad and Web Summit CEO Katherine Maher.
Bollywood actress and singer Nora Fatehi, WPP CEO Mark Read, Whoop CEO Will Ahmed and astronaut and Deep Space Initiative founder Sara Sabry are some of the other key speakers during the four-day event.
The speakers are expected to cover a variety of topics including content creation, front-end development, leadership, media, Software as a Service, and society.
Around 12,000 participants are expected to attend the summit, which will make it the event’s first sold-out edition in the region.
The event, running until February 29, will welcome the largest and globally most diverse cohort of start-ups to ever gather in the region. Organisers are expecting more than 1,000 start-ups from 80 countries, alongside over 500 investors and LPs from around the world seeking investment opportunities in the region.
The top themes during the summit are entrepreneurship, venture capital, Artificial Intelligence, energy, advertising and marketing, space exploration, and fintech.
Local start-ups, participating in Web Summit Qatar, are expected to benefit from the exchange of ideas and expertise with their counterparts from around the world.
“There’s an equal number of participating start-ups from Qatar as there’re from around the globe. We want our local firms to benefit from the experiences of foreign companies attending the Web Summit. The interaction between these start-ups will result in an exchange of ideas and expertise. It’ll provide them a glimpse and a forward vision of what’s going on outside the country,” said Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of the Web Summit Qatar Organising Committee.
