Qatar’s Awqaf Ministry to set up 10 Iftar tents during Ramadan, to offer 10,000 Iftar meals every day

One of the most beautiful experiences of the Holy month of Ramadan are the Iftar tents, where thousands of people come together to break their fast in the evenings.

The Qatar Calendar House had earlier announced that the holy month of Ramadan was set to begin on Thursday, March 23.

And with the Holy month fast approaching, the General Endowments Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has stepped up preparations for Iftar tents in different parts of the country.

The department announced that it will set up 10 Iftar tents in densely populated areas across the country, big enough to accommodate 10,000 fasting people in a day, during the Holy month.

The setting up of the Iftar tents will be overseen by the Iftar Sa’im endowment (within the projects of the Endowment Fund for Righteousness) and Taqwa, which receives contributions from people and philanthropists, especially during Ramadan.

General Endowments Department Director General Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Thani said the entity was keen to hold the Iftar tents during Ramadan.

Muhammad bin Yaqoub Al Ali, Assistant Director General of the General Endowments Department said: “This year, we aim to provide Iftar meals to 10,000 fasting people daily at ten different locations. The project has been launched with the generous support of different endowers and the blessed contributions of philanthropists.”

Al Ali urged philanthropists and endowers to contribute to support the Iftar fasting sites and cover their costs, either by covering the expenses of a full tent or contributing any sums of money according to ability.

He added that the cost of sites would throughout the holy month of Ramadan depending on the tent’s capacity and target number of fasting people. Those who are interested in contributing may do so here.
