The General Cleanliness Department, functioning under Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality, has prepared 26 beaches and five islands to receive thousands of visitors during Eid Al Fitr holidays.

The Department has deployed 80 cleaning vehicles, 47 supervisors, and 205 workers to keep public places and picnic areas clean during the holiday rush.

The teams have also prepared 266 Eid Al Fitr prayer grounds to receive worshipers.

Qatar’s coastline stretches 563 km, with beaches of white sand and serene sea water that ranges from turquoise to deep blue.

The non-family beaches that have been readied for the holiday crowd include Al Ruwais, Fuwairt, Dukhan, Al Wakra, Sealine and Al Adaid.

While parts of Al Ghariya, Abu Zaluf, Al Zakhira, Al Ferkiah in Al Khor, Simaisma, Al Wakra and Sealine have been earmarked for families, Al Kharaij beach will be accessible by singles and workers.

A section of the Simaisma beach will be open only for women.

Each beach has been provided with walkways, shades, permanent toilets, kiosks, barbeque areas, play areas for children, and volleyball and football grounds.

Some beaches also have dedicated walkways for people with special needs. The lighting system of almost all beaches are powered by solar energy.

The Sealine beach in Mesaieed is a great destination for families and friends as it offers a load of additional activities including camel riding, safari tours and dune bashing.

The Al Maroona beach, with its fine sand and shallow waters, is a perfect destination for a day by the sea. Simaisma beach has soft sand and shallow waters, making it ideal for families with little children.

While the Al Wakra family beach spans an area of 147,000SqM, the public beach spans 394,000SqM.

Visitors are requested to avoid lighting fire directly on the ground. They should also refrain from burying charcoal ash in the sand and maintain hygiene by throwing waste in designated garbage containers.
