Qatar’s pilgrims stand at Mount Arafat, to head to Muzdalifah today
Pilgrims from Qatar, traveling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, have settled in with those from other parts of the world at the sacred hill of Mount Arafat for intense, day-long worship and reflection.
The ritual at Mount Arafat, known as the Hill of Mercy, is considered the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage. It is often the most memorable for pilgrims, who stand shoulder to shoulder, feet to feet, asking God for mercy, blessings, prosperity, and good health. The Mount is about 20km southeast of Mecca.
At Arafat, pilgrims will pray the noon (Zuhr) and afternoon prayers (Asr) combined and shortened with one call to prayer and two iqamas. They remain in Arafat and strive diligently in remembrance and supplication until sunset.
After sunset, all pilgrims will depart from Arafat to Muzdalifah, where they pray the sunset (Maghrib) and evening (Ishaa) prayers, combined and shortened, and spend the night there, before heading to Mina to stone the Great Jamarat of Aqaba.
The pilgrims had spent the Day of Tarwiyah in Mina, following the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), before stopping at Arafat, amid intensive measures taken by Saudi Arabian authorities to facilitate the movement of pilgrims.
In addition, the Qatari Hajj Mission is making every effort to serve the country’s pilgrims and to facilitate the smooth completion of their religious duty.
Meanwhile, the Medical Services Unit of the Qatari Hajj Mission has prepared a clinic for men and another for women in the Mash’ar Arafa camp, with necessary medical arrangements made to receive all cases, whether normal, critical, or emergency.
