The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) has issued a circular to all Qatari airlines informing all passengers onboard to disclose (prior to the arrival of the legislation pertaining to the declaration of cash and valuables when entering or leaving the State of Qatar).

This must be done in compliance with the General Authority of Customs in the State of Qatar's regulations.

When entering or leaving the State of Qatar, any person in possession of any currency, bearer negotiable instruments, precious metals, or stones equal to or exceeding 50,000 Qatari Riyals or its equivalent in foreign currencies must complete the declaration form and hand it over to the Customs Authorities.

It should be noted that non-declaration or incorrect declaration will result in legal action by Qatari authorities. Declaration forms will be available in the immigration hall upon arrival or departure.

The Civil Aviation Authority is a government entity in Qatar. Its headquarters are in Doha. It was founded in the year 2001. The Civil Aviation Authority oversaw the development of Qatar's Hamad International Airport.

Following are the objectives of QCAA:

  • To establish a recognized internal and external institution that deals with air transport issues and participates in the formation of aviation policy at the regional and worldwide levels through its departments, internal units, and externally affiliated organizations and federations.
  • Keep up with changes in various domains, and has labored to achieve well-studied and clearly stated work plans in accordance with International Civil Aviation Laws.
  • Civil aviation and meteorological sectors are being upgraded to the greatest standards of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Organizing the airspace, maintaining aviation safety, and supervising all aviation-related facilities in order to promote continuous expansion and long-term development at all levels.
