QF and Texas A&M University Partnership conclusion confirmed
Qatar Foundations's (QF) collaboration with Texas A&M University, marked by the success of its Doha-based campus in graduating over 1500 engineers, fostering significant industry partnerships. and advancing groundbreaking engineering and sustainability research is poised to conclude after over two decades.
The decision to end this partnership was communicated after a resolution by the Board of Regents of Texas A&M University. QF affirms its dedication to ensuring the uninterrupted educational journey of current students enrolled at Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ), established in 2003, and the continuation of engineering studies at its Education City Campus.
Hend Zainal, Executive Director of Strategy, management, and Partnerships within QF's higher education division, underscored the institution's enduring commitment to nurturing a world-class educational ecosystem. This commitment has been exemplified through longstanding collaborations with global universities, resulting in the establishment campuses within Education City and the delivery of undergraduate and graduate programs tailored to the needs of Qatar and the region, complementing QF's own Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU).
In light of Texas A&M University's decision to conclude the partnership, QF's higher education strategy is poised for acceleration and implementation to ensure seamless continuity of learning for students, particularly in engineering, as well as their holistic personal and academic development.
The decision by Texas A&M University's Board of Regents to terminate the partnership has been influenced by a disinformation campaign, which regrettably overshadowed the partnership's significant positive impact on both Qatar and the United States. Despite this, QF remains steadfast in its commitment to prioritizing the best interests of students and the pursuit of education and knowledge.
While the process and timeline for formalizing the conclusion of the partnership between QF and Texas A&M University are currently under discussion, it is important to note that Education City serves as the home to six international partner universities, including TAMUQ, alongside HBKU. Additionally, QF's commitment to academic excellence is further reinforced through partnerships with institutions such as HEC Paris in Qatar, located in Msherieb Downtown Doha.
