As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has initiated its annual Ramadan Campaign, #DutyToHelp, to aid vulnerable populations both locally and internationally.

Months ahead of Ramadan 1445 AH, QRCS personnel, both within and outside Qatar, have been diligently preparing and executing the campaign. The funds garnered from generous donations in Qatar will fuel various humanitarian and development projects benefiting approximately 1.6 million individuals worldwide, during and after Ramadan.

Within Qatar, QRCS's Volunteering and Local Development Division is spearheading a range of initiatives to support marginalized groups.

The Volunteering Section collaborates with other QRCS departments, and volunteers are mobilized for the Ramadan Iftar project, providing fresh meals and provisions to impoverished families and expatriate workers.

The Community Development Section organizes charitable visits to specific groups during Ramadan, facilitating community engagement and support.

The Community Care Section is focused on the Ramadan Iftar project. This division distributes food coupons to around 47,000 beneficiaries from needy families, enabling them to purchase essential items throughout the fasting month. Priority is given to low-income families, single mothers, widows, the elderly, individuals with special needs, and families of incarcerated individuals. Additionally, regular cash distributions assist impoverished families with living expenses. On the 15th day of Ramadan, QRCS hosts the Garangao celebration, distributing food coupons and gifts to bring joy to disadvantaged families and children.

Internationally, QRCS extends its humanitarian efforts through its foreign representation offices and in collaboration with National Societies in host countries. Key projects include the Ramadan Iftar initiative, delivering food parcels to over 234,000 beneficiaries across 18 countries, ensuring access to Iftar and Suhoor meals throughout Ramadan.

Target countries for these initiatives include Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Bangladesh, and several others.

Furthermore, QRCS will conduct Zakat-ul-Fitr, Eid Clothing, and food security projects in impoverished nations, supporting bakeries with flour for daily bread distribution during Ramadan.

QRCS aims to deliver aid to beneficiaries ahead of Ramadan, fostering a sense of community and joy during the holy month. Beyond Ramadan-specific efforts, the fundraising campaign will finance a comprehensive plan of humanitarian projects until year-end, spanning food aid, shelter, water, sanitation, livelihood, education, psychological support, health, and medical assistance.
