Rawdat Al Hamama Public Park, featuring air-conditioned jogging tracks, to open soon

Over the last few years, Qatar has gone to great lengths to make the country greener, with more open spaces than ever for the public to enjoy. The mega parks at Al Gharafa, Umm Al Seneem and Rawdat Al Khail are recent examples of this trend.
The country is set to soon open another major public park — in Rawdat Al Hamama — which will boast excellent facilities as well as air-conditioned jogging tracks.
“The Rawdat Al Hamama Public Park, a central park being developed over a very large area to serve many surrounding areas and neighbourhoods, will open soon,” said Jassim Abdulrahman Fakhroo, Project Manager at the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar.
“It’ll have large green spaces with many trees from Qatari environment and also air-conditioned jogging tracks. It’ll have a large parking space and many play areas for children of different age groups,” Fakhroo said, while speaking to Qatar TV recently.
Central parks are much larger than neighbourhood parks (thousands of square metres bigger) and boast far superior infrastructure. Fakhroo explained the differences between the two.
“Central parks are equipped with jogging tracks and fitness equipment, among other facilities, for people of all age groups. Some examples of central parks are Al Gharafa Public Park, Umm Al Seneem Public Park and Rawdat Al Khail Park in Muntazah. Most neighbourhood parks have basic facilities such as jogging tracks, cycling tracks, play areas with equipment for children, trees from Qatari environment and green spaces among others,” said Fakhroo.
The top official outlined the future plans of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar.
“We aim to increase the number of public beaches and neighbourhood parks in the country. By providing people with more parks and green spaces, we hope to encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle by participating in outdoor activities,” he said.
