The ‘Match for Hope’ charity football match, being held by Q Life cultural platform under the aegis of Qatar’s International Media Office, will be played at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on Friday.
The one-off match, featuring some of the world’s leading content creators and football legends, is set to kick off at 7.30pm.
Organisers have now revealed the teams for the match.
UK-based content creator Chunkz will headline the first team. He will be joined by fellow content creators Harry Pinero, popular Youtubers Johnny Carey, David Vujanic, Angry Ginge, Just Riadh, Ahmad Aboroub, Anders Hofman, AJ Shabeel, Amar Kandil, Xduttinho, Daud Suleiman, British rapper Aitch, French freestyle footballer Sean Garnier and British freestyle footballer Billy Wingrove.
They will also have some footballing royalty with them in the form of former Brazilian superstar Roberto Carlos, Spain’s David Villa, Belgian Eden Hazard and Japan’s Taiyo Kimura.
They will be managed by none other than French tactician Arsene Wenger.
Meanwhile, AboFlah, one of the region’s biggest content creators, will captain the other side.
He will lead a team of content creators — consisting of Amine Radi, YouTubers Sharky, Eman SV2, Caspar Lee, Thomas Brag, Thogden, Yung Filly, Sammy Chaffai, Danny Aarons, Hanody Awesome, internet celebrity Kristen Hanby, Markitos and online gamers Jamm and Agent 00.
There will be no dearth of football talents either, with retired Qatar international Adel Khamis, Brazilian star Kaka, Congolese Claud Makelele, Ivorian Didier Drogba, and Australian Tim Cahill all making an appearance.
Italian Antonio Conte will manage the team.
Funds raised through the game, being organised in collaboration with the Education Above All Foundation (EAA) and Qatar Football Association (QFA), will be used to build awareness about EAA and its activities.
It will go towards helping their projects in six countries — Palestine, Sudan, Pakistan, Tanzania, Mali, and Rwanda.
The match will take place at the 45,000-capacity Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, which hosted seven matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and as many games during the recent 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
The last batch of tickets for the exhibition match is currently on sale at the QFA platform and can be purchased here. Fans can also donate to the initiative by clicking on the website’s ‘Donate’ button.
The doors will open to the public at 4.30pm and fans will have the option to use the Doha Metro network to easily access the stadium.
