Following a fun-filled summer season packed with entertainment events — including the smash-hit Disney on Ice and the country’s first-ever Qatar Toy Festival — Qatar Tourism has unveiled a dynamic schedule for September that features a host of cultural and sporting events.

The month will see a vibrant line-up of musical performances, art exhibitions, as well as various sporting championships.   

The latest edition of Qatar Calendar showcases the diverse schedule of events and activities taking place across the country throughout the month of September.

Whether residents and visitors are looking for interactive experiences, thrilling competitions or cultural exhibitions, the Qatar Calendar ‘September Edition’ is catered to suit all preferences and interests.  

Noor Abdulla Al Thani, Acting Head of Tourism Events & Festivals Organizing Section at Qatar Tourism, said: “There’s plenty to experience and enjoy this September in Qatar, with a variety of musical performances, cultural exhibitions and sporting championships taking place. To learn more about the different events occurring across the country, including time, location, and ticket information, we encourage everyone to utilise our Qatar Calendar product, which conveniently consolidates all the important details.”

Doha Trade Fair 

Dates: August 28 to September 6

Location: Doha Exhibition and Convention Center

The Doha Trade Fair, organised by Al Maraya for Exhibitions and Conferences, will feature a variety of products including clothes, perfumes, food, accessories, carpets, and more. The exhibition will provide a platform for merchants to engage with visitors and showcase their latest products and designs. 

The Present: The Future of the Past 

Dates: August 31 to December 16

Location: Fire Station Museum

The exhibition showcases the various stages of the creative process following the 31 artists in residence at Fire Station Museum. Delving into the artistic journey of each artist, the exhibition will highlight the start of the creative process through to the final outcome. 

 

Qatar Philharmonic 2023/24 season 

Dates: September 2 to 30

Location: Various locations

The Qatar Philharmonic will kick off its 2023-24 season with a unique musical event that tributes Gulf folk music by merging traditional Gulf folk styles with a Western orchestra in an event titled, Gulf Folk Meets the Philharmonic, (September 2).

This will be followed by an evening featuring one of the greatest operas of the 19th century, Bizet’s Carmen - Musical (September 15). Featuring the works of Mendelssohn and Schumann, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (September 19) will showcase pieces from the score written by Mendelssohn for the famous Shakespearean play.

Music-lovers can delight in the major works by Mozart and Beethoven and watch one of the Philharmonic’s live performances led by the esteemed German conductor Elias Grandy on September 24. Lastly, A Night of Tchaikovsky (September 30) will feature two of the renowned artist’s greatest compositions.  

Storytime: Angry Majid 

Dates: September 2

Location: Mohammed Jassim Al Khulaifi library

Catered toward the whole family, this storytime session will share the relatable journey of Angry Majid.  

 

Rouda AlMalki Exhibition  

Dates: September 2 to 6

Location: Al Jawan Hall at Al Dana Club

Fashion enthusiasts can head to Al Dana Club to join a celebration of beauty and femininity at the Rouda AlMalki Exhibition. 

Illumination Art Workshop 

Dates: September 3 to 7

Location: Building 19, Katara Cultural Village

For art lovers, a special workshop will teach the basics of illumination art with artist Khadija.

 

Sudan, Land of Colors Exhibition 

Dates: September 4 to 17

Location: Building 18, Katara Cultural Village 

Tickets: Free of cost.

This exhibition features the works of artist Nour El-Hadi, who takes audiences on a beautiful journey through the colours of his native country, Sudan.  

 

Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition

Dates: September 5 to 9

Location: Katara Cultural Village

Tickets: Free of cost.

The latest edition of the International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition (S'hail 2023) will present premium falcons, hunting, and falconry equipment from all over the world. The exhibition aims to preserve Qatar’s rich heritage and promote the significance of the country’s national bird.  

Mahmod Al Turky Concert 

Dates: September 6

Location: Mall of Qatar

Tickets: Free of cost.

Iraqi-based singer Mahmod Al Turky is set to make his debut at 9pm on September 6 at Mall of Qatar’s Oasis stage with an exhilarating live musical performance. A star from the widely popular show Arabs Got Talent, the singer continues to captivate audiences at cultural and social events across the region. The show is open to the public and is free of charge.  

 

Masterpieces of Furniture Design Exhibition 

Dates: September 8 to December 9

Location: M7, Msheireb

Drawn from the renowned Vitra Design Museum collection, the Masterpieces of Furniture Design Exhibition will showcase a comprehensive selection of modern furniture, including original works by leading designers such as Alvar Aalto, Le Corbusier, Charles and Ray Eames, Charlotte Perriand and Virgil Abloh. 


Doha International Coffee Exhibition 

Dates: September 14 to 16

Location: Doha Exhibition and Convention Center

The first edition of the much-anticipated Doha International Coffee Exhibition is set to be the largest event of its kind in Doha. The exhibition promises visitors the finest coffee experience and a platform for companies to showcase their latest offerings.  

 

Geekend 

Dates: September 15 and 16

Location: Lusail Boulevard

Qatar’s most popular meeting of geeks is coming back, promising the most epic and unique edition yet.

 

13th GPCA Agri-Nutrients Conference 

Dates: September 17 to 19

Location: Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Doha

Tickets: $1,000 to $1,250. Registrations can be done here.

Industry leaders and practitioners of the agri-nutrients sector across the region can participate in this dedicated platform to share ideas and future trends on the sector. 

 

Discovering Wood Craft at MIA 

Dates: September 24

Location: Museum of Islamic Art

Tickets: Free to attend, registrations can be done by emailing whatsonatmia@qm.org.qa.

Children are invited to attend this special workshop that delves into the use of wood in artefacts found at the Museum of Islamic Art. 

 

Ability Friendly Movement and Meditation 

Dates: September 3 to December 14

Location: Awsaj Academy Recreation Centre

Awsaj Academy Recreation Centre kicks off a 14-week term of Ability Friendly Program Movement and Meditation classes that will involve one-hour group dancing classes with guided meditation for participants with disabilities.  

 

Qatar Classic PSA Platinum – Squash 

Dates: September 9 to 16

Location: Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex

Qatar’s annual international squash tournament returns this September with an exciting showdown of the world’s best squash athletes as they battle for the esteemed title.  

 

Gulf Cricket Championship  

Dates: September 14 to 23

Location: West End Park International Cricket Stadium

The Gulf Cricket Championship is coming to Qatar for the first time. Teams from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will compete for the title.  

 

FIBA U16 Asian Championship 2023-Basketball 

Dates: September 17 to 24

Location: Al Gharafa Sports Club Hall

The 2023 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship will be the seventh edition of the under-16 basketball championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone. The tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Turkey. 

 

Seashore Phoenix Games 2023 

Dates: September 22 to 25

Location: Ladies Sports Hall Aspire Zone

The Phoenix Games is a competition that is specialised in functional fitness. The event for men will run on September 22 and 23 while the women’s competition will be held on September 24 and 25. The women’s competition will be a private, closed-door event.

 

Qatar Open 9-Ball Championship 2023 

Dates: September 30 to October 8

Location: Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation Hall

The Qatar Open 9-Ball Championship will return for the first time in more than a decade, with the 2023 edition boasting a QAR1,000,000 prize fund.
