Sheikha Moza visits Renad Academy, attends roundtable on autism support in Qatar
Qatar has given a lot of importance to include and integrate differently abled people into the mainstream. Various programmes and entities have been set up to make the transformation easy and seamless.
The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) has been doing some great work in this field.

On Sunday, QF Chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser made a visit to Renad Academy, a school established by QF to support children with autism in Qatar and the region.
“It’s been a special honour to meet and observe the students. The children made my day. I’m so impressed with their efforts in class. It’s wonderful to see what they’re achieving with the equipment, facilities, and the great help they’ve here,” said Sheikha Moza.
Following a tour of the classes and the academy’s various facilities, Sheikha Moza also attended a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Autism Support in the State of Qatar: Current Practices and Future Prospects.’
The roundtable highlighted Qatar’s efforts in providing necessary support for individuals with autism, upholding their rights, and working on integrating them within the community.
At the Roundtable, Sheikha Moza said tremendous progress had been made in the field and encouraged the experts to continue to collaborate and find new ways to work together.
Dr. Dena Al Thani, Associate Professor at the College of Science and Engineering at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, said: “The roundtable reflects the importance of stakeholders collaborating and adopting holistic approaches to ensure a better future for individuals with autism in Qatar. It also highlights Sheikha Moza’s and QF’s local and global leadership of efforts to increase awareness of autism, as well as support for individuals and their families.”
HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, also attended the roundtable discussion.
Qatar Foundation had celebrated World Autism Awareness Day at the Oxygen Park on Sunday.
