He said Singapore was keen to advance its cooperation with Qatar in various fields, including artificial intelligence and digital economy. He also praised the committee’s work over the past 17 years.
Sheikh Mohammed said the joint committee, ever since its establishment in 2006, had been a successful model of partnership. The leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop them as well as issues of common interest.
The two prime ministers then listened to a presentation delivered by Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) CEO Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al Thani on various investment opportunities in Qatar.
He highlighted Qatar’s plans to promote and establish infrastructure for open and free investment, and ways of joint investment with Singapore.
Sheikh Ali said IPA, since launching four years ago, had succeeded in creating a world-class business environment in Qatar, contributing to the country’s potential as an attractive destination for foreign investments.
He added that the agency was keen to benefit from the experiences of international investment promotion agencies and to follow modern and innovative methods in promoting and attracting foreign investments.
The Singaporean side spoke about the development of smart city infrastructure and artificial intelligence strategies, including the ethical and regulatory framework for governance.
Sheikh Mohammed also met with Singaporean President Halimah Yacob before the visit formally ended with a luncheon banquet hosted in the delegation’s honour.
