After the successful organisation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar will next host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup from January 12 to February 10, 2024, said officials from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the competition’s Local Organising Committee (LOC).

The continent’s top 24 teams will compete for Asia’s biggest prize across eight stadiums, including six which hosted World Cup matches — Al Janoub, Al Bayt, Ahmed Bin Ali, Al Thumama, Education City, Khalifa International Stadium. Jassim bin Hamad and Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadiums are the two other venues that will be used.

AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “We know that the LOC and the Qatar Football Association will stage a true spectacle never before experienced in Asian football history.”

“Already, we’ve witnessed QFA and the Qatari authorities organise the best-ever FIFA World Cup in the history of the modern game. We’ve faith that they’ll showcase their unrivalled hosting capabilities, state-of-the-art infrastructure and warm hospitality for the benefit of our teams, players and passionate fans.

“We praise them for their dedication and commitment, and we’re delighted to confirm the competition dates and venues, which represents an important milestone in our ambitions to provide the ultimate stage for our teams and players to shine,” he said.

The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 will be held over 30 days, two more than the tournament’s last edition in the UAE in 2019. The official draw will be held at the Katara Opera House on May 11, at 2pm Doha time. The official match schedule will be unveiled shortly after.
