Some spots for bachelors to visit during Eid holidays
With the Eid holidays fast approaching, Qatar provides many options for people to explore its various areas. While the weather may be prohibitive for active outdoor explorations during the mornings, the evenings provide many more opportunities.
Qatar is a family-friendly nation that reserves at least some public spots exclusively for families. But fret not. The country is still vast enough to accommodate every adventurer and explorer who is without their families.
Qatar Living looks at some places bachelors/singles can visit during their Eid holidays. Dive right in.
DOHA CORNICHE
Let’s start with one of the country’s most iconic locations — the Doha Corniche. One can walk, jog, or ride a cycle along the long brick-laid waterfront promenade. One can enjoy stunning views of the Doha Skyline, pose for selfies with the Arabian Gulf in the background, and visit the iconic FIFA World Cup countdown clock, all while taking a leisurely stroll. If you are a history buff, the Museum of Islamic Arts and the National Museum of Qatar are just a stone’s throw away.
AZERBAIJANI BEACH
Located a long way away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Azerbaijani Beach in Madinat Al Shamal is a lovely destination rich in natural beauty. It is usually a quiet location where you can spend some quality time with friends and relatives. With white sands and clear waters, you will fall in love with the place. With little to no rocks in the area, it is a good and safe spot for everyone to enjoy.
AL THAKIRA MANGROVES
Qatar may have large swathes of desert terrain, but it also hides some green gems like the Al Thakira Mangroves. It is among Qatar’s oldest and largest forests and its advanced ecosystem attracts thousands of migratory birds like herons and flamingos each year. A number of species of fish and crustaceans also inhabit the area. While one can simply visit the mangroves, the more adventurous at heart can opt to explore it via guided kayak tours.
QUEST INDOOR THEME PARK
What better way to beat the hot sun and intense humidity than a visit to an indoor theme park? Quest, a 32,000SqM indoor experiential theme park located within Doha Oasis Mixed-Use Development in Msheireb, is a perfect destination for both children and the young at heart.
It has over 30 rides and attractions and features a mix of adrenaline-heavy thrill rides, media-controlled simulators, and virtual reality experiences, all offering an experience unlike any other.
Quest’s signature rides are the EpiQ Coaster, crowned as the World’s tallest indoor roller coaster, and the Magma Blast, the World’s tallest indoor drop tower. Quest is a themed and story-based concept that caters to audiences of all ages.
ASIAN TOWN
Asian Town, located at the end of Barwa Commercial Avenue and close to the Al Watan Roundabout, is an affordable place for people to visit, watch movies and entertainment events, or treat themselves to some cricketing action in a proper stadium setting.
Asian Town offers a massive mall, four cinemas with 500 seating capacity each, several food outlets of popular hotel chains, an international cricket stadium that can seat 13,000 people, a sports club with a football and four cricket practice pitches, four badminton and eight basketball courts etc.
BATTLE ZONE PAINTBALLING
If you are feeling bored at home during Eid holidays, nothing can reinvigorate your mind than an action-packed game of paintball at the Battlezone Field in BSquare Mall, near Al Thumama.
Based on urban warfare, Battlezone Field is designed to simulate the experience of being in a war zone. You will get kitted out in the latest paintball gear, full-head goggles, body armour, and a wide range of paintball guns.
Nothing brings people together more than a session of paintballing shootout. You can play against friends or against total strangers. Are you ready to paint the town red?
INLAND SEA
Have you been to the magical place where sea waves gently meet the sand of the Qatari desert? With off-road rides, dune bashing, climbing, and zooming down sand dunes before reaching the gentle seaside, there is something in this trip for everyone. One will need a Four Wheel Drive vehicle to navigate the tough terrain at Khor Al Adaid. It will be even more memorable if you visit with a large group of friends.
BOX PARK
Box Park is one of the latest, most vibrant, and trendiest destinations in the country. Shipping containers have been repurposed into colourful shopping and food outlets. The photogenic and Instagram-friendly locations, situated near the Doha Port, highlight Qatar’s modern and trendy outlook.
Box Park contains metal cargo boxes repurposed to house shops, cafes, dining outlets and commercial spaces within it. The place will give visitors some very colourful memories.
