Qatar has always taken pride in its role as a giant melting pot of cultures, with people from different nations coming together to take the country forward.

A microcosm of modern Qatari society, filled with people from different nationalities and regions, was on display at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park on Friday, during the MIA Park Bazaar.

The annual shopping event featuring predominantly homemade products from art to food kicked off on February 24.

Sellers from different communities displayed sweets, delicacies, handicrafts, artworks and toys in specific areas while customers roamed around freely looking at the quality wares and buying them.

Lamia Mustafa, an artist, said she was getting many customers at her stall at the MIA Park Bazaar.

“Many customers look for pieces (paintings or mugs) that feature Qatar’s landmarks. Some prefer wares with Islamic designs while others like personalised items. I’ve been participating in various bazaars around the country, before the Covid-19 pandemic,” she told Gulf Times.

One significant aspect of the MIA Park Bazaar, which has attracted people from all walks of life, is the authentic home-made cuisine, from various expatriate communities.
