As the holiday travel season approaches, Hamad International Airport (HIA) is gearing up for the anticipated increase in passenger traffic.

The travel season will be particularly busy from December 17 to 20, when people set out for their holiday destinations. To ensure passengers have a smooth and enjoyable travel experience, the airport has shared some important tips and updates:

GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS

Check-in online and arrive early

Passengers are advised to check in online and arrive at the airport three hours prior to their flight to avoid delays and ensure a smooth journey. Check-in counters will close 60 minutes before departure.

Use self-service facilities

Qatar Airways passenges can make use of the airport’s self-service check-in and bag-drop facilities located at ‘Check-In Row 3.’ This enables passengers to print boarding passes and bag tags, tag their luggage, and drop bags off before proceeding to border control.

Expedite immigration with E-Gates

Citizens and residents can use E-Gates to fast-track the immigration process. Follow the signage in the terminal or ask staff for assistance to make the travelling process more comfortable.

BAGGAGE GUIDELINES

Adhere to baggage policies

Passengers are reminded that baggage allowances and weight restrictions will be strictly enforced by airlines. Check with your airline for specific guidelines.

Avoid oversized luggage

Non-standard or oversized luggage is discouraged. A baggage repack area is available in the departure hall with luggage weighing machines to assist passengers.

Secure your bags

Travellers are encouraged to use the bag wrapping facilities available in the terminal to protect their luggage.

SECURITY REMINDERS

Prohibited items

Ensure that you do not carry prohibited items like liquids, aerosols, and gels exceeding 100ml, unless stored in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag. Electronic items larger than mobile phones must be removed from bags during X-ray screening.

Unattended bags

Bags should never be left unattended. Any unattended bags will be promptly removed for security reasons.

Lithium-powered devices

Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries, such as hoverboards, are prohibited for carriage.

PARKING INFORMATION

Stress-less parking

Make your journey seamless with convenient parking options:

Long-term parking with special rates

Park in the short-term car park and enjoy special discounted rates for long stays (using pre-book option only), ensuring proximity to the terminal.

Valet parking

For the ultimate convenience, drop off your vehicle with our valet service and let us handle the rest. To guarantee your spot and save time, pre-book your parking in advance through the parking page on our website.

Curbside regulations

Please do not leave vehicles unattended at the curbside. Unattended vehicles may be towed away by authorities. For extended drop-off times, kindly use the short-term car park facility.

DIGITAL TOOLS FOR A SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE

HIAQatar mobile app

Download the ‘HIAQatar’ mobile app to stay updated on your flight status, baggage claim, boarding gate directions, and more. The app also offers details about food, beverage, and retail options from Qatar Duty Free.

Digital wayfinding with QR codes

Leverage the airport’s innovative QR code wayfinding solution to navigate the terminal with ease.

HIA is dedicated to making your holiday travel experience enjoyable and stress-free, allowing you to create lasting memories with your loved ones. Plan ahead, stay informed, and enjoy the journey.
