Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his three-nation Gulf tour, presented a Gemlik blue Togg, his country’s first domestically produced electric car, to HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday.

The year 2023 is significant for Turkiye as it marks the republic’s centenary and the shipping of its first domestic electric vehicle — The Togg. This event is symbolic of Turkiye’s projected economic growth and technological progress.
The vehicle is produced by Turkish automotive manufacturer Togg — a consortium formed in 2018 by five of Turkiye’s most influential companies.
Togg’s manufacturing unit at Gemlik Campus is slated to produce five different models by 2030, including an SUV, sedan, C-hatchback, B-SUV, and B-MPV.
In a significant achievement, Togg owns the intellectual and industrial property rights to these models. The Gemlik Campus also boasts of Europe’s cleanest paint shop, further highlighting the green aspect of this venture.

The cars’ design comes from the famed Italian design company Pininfarina, known for creating models for Ferrari and Karma. In 2021, Togg’s C-SUV model won the prestigious iF Design Award, the first for a Turkish brand.
Togg's cars feature advanced lithium-ion batteries that can be charged to 80% in about 30 minutes and offer a range of up to 500 kilometres. The car boasts an impressive performance, accelerating from zero to 100 kmph in just 7.6sec with a 200 horsepower engine and under 4.8sec with a 400-horsepower engine. Additionally, the vehicle will be connected to the internet at all times through 4G and 5G.

Turkiye, already among the world’s top 20 carmakers, looks forward to an industrial growth spurt with the introduction of its indigenous electric cars.
The flagship model of the Togg range, set to begin deliveries from October 2023, comes with two electric motors delivering a combined 435 hp and 700 Nm torque. Togg also plans to establish its Trugo charging stations, allowing owners to charge the battery from 20% to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes.
President Erdogan’s landmark gift to HH The Amir underlines Turkiye’s commitment to strengthening its ties with other nations while showcasing its technological advancements.
