Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrives in Doha for state visit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Doha on Tuesday for an official visit to the country.
Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Qatar’s Ambassador to Turkiye Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani and Turkish Ambassador to Qatar Dr Mustafa Goksu welcomed the Turkish President and his delegation at Doha International Airport.
Dr Mustafa Goksu said Erdogan’s visit to Qatar was an affirmation of the strategic and close partnership that existed between the two brotherly countries.
“The Qatari-Turkish relations have reached a stage of strategic partnership. The president’s visit is an affirmation of the partnership’s strength. It’ll also help push it towards further progress,” he said.
The ambassador said the leaders of the two countries will discuss bilateral relations, preparations for the ninth session of the Supreme Strategic Committee, investment opportunities and growing economic and trade relations, in addition to exchanging views on developments in the situation in the region and the world.
Goksu said Erdogan would personally thank HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari government as well as the people of the country for their strong support during the earthquake which struck Turkiye in February.
He pointed out that despite tremendous transformations in the nature of relations between countries both regionally and globally, and the escalation of crises and conflicts in international politics, Turkiye and Qatar continued to maintain close, stable, and growing relations at all levels.
He added that the bilateral relationship was one of the pillars of balance in the region and constituted a real guarantee in facing political, security, and economic challenges.
After the devastating earthquake that left thousands dead, the Qatar Red Crescent Society had played an important role on ground zero, coordinating rescue operations as well as effective movement and disbursal of aid.
Qatari people also donated generously to the ‘Aoun Wa Sanad’ campaign for Turkiye and Syria, raising more than QAR 168 million in a single day. Sheikh Tamim had led the campaign from the front with a generous donation of QAR 50 million.
Sheikh Tamim visited Turkey on an official visit in February 2023. He was also one of the first world leaders to congratulate Erdogan for winning a historic extension to his term in office.
