Watan, the three-day joint security exercise, was conducted at multiple land and sea facilities in Qatar and concluded yesterday with the participation of 13 countries.

HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, witnessed the conclusion of the Watan exercise which took place at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

In the context of verifying the readiness to host important sporting events, including the FIFA Arab World Cup Qatar 2021 and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, HE also observed a visual presentation of the most notable situations that were dealt with throughout the exercise.

Furthermore, the closing ceremony was attended by several distinguished sheikhs, ministers, heads of delegations, participating parties, security leaders, and senior officials.

The participation of numerous military, organizational, and service agencies, as well as the activation of a collaboration mechanism between all parties involved, sought to assess readiness in order to assure the events' success.

The exercise was held to also enhance close cooperation with the friendly forces participating in it, and to ensure integration of efforts and cooperation to achieve the best security experiences in major sporting events hosted by Qatar.

“After completing another set of complex scenarios, we have proven once again that we are ready more than ever,” Security Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 said.
