The 2024 Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) powered by Bloomberg, which will kick off on Tuesday, May 14, will bring together influential global leaders, experts, and innovators to discuss and shape the future of global economies.

The three-day forum is expected to be a platform for insightful discussions and strategic partnerships, aimed at driving sustainable development and prosperity on a global scale.

“Through the QEF, we’ve established a dynamic center for global business leaders to convene, connect, and catalyze partnerships. The forum has become the nexus where visionary leaders converge to shape the future,” said QEF’s Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee Sheikh Ali bin Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Thani.

“We’re enthusiastic about the collaborative spirit that defines this platform, where ideas flourish, and alliances are forged, propelling us towards a future of shared success and prosperity,” he added.

QEF’S OBJECTIVES AND THEMES

QEF will look to address key economic challenges, opportunities, and global trends. Here are some of the primary objectives and themes for this year’s forum.

1. Geopolitics, globalization and trade

With 2024 being the biggest election year in world history, the conference will discuss and identify how the new political landscape will shift investment flows, recalibrate supply chains, and fragment the global economy.

2. Business and investment outlook

Leaders in business and investment will give insights about market-beating growth, and answer critical questions on the global economy.

3. The energy transition

The energy industry’s most influential decision makers will share their expertise on the future of LNG and the transition from oil to gas.

4. Sports and entertainment

Players, leagues, teams and investors are set to reveal the next wave of disruption that will hit the multibillion-dollar sports industry.

5. Technology innovation

Technological risks and revelations are intensifying with each passing day. The forum will attempt to find what’s next for artificial intelligence, the blockchain, chips, antitrust regulation, and life after the smartphone.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

The QEF will feature a rich line-up of distinguished thought leaders and guest speakers who will share their expertise, experiences, insights, and perspectives about various topics related to the global economy. While some notable speakers have taken part in the forum in the past, this year’s line-up also includes some of the who’s who of world politics and economy.

While Qatar’s Prime Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani will speak during the Forum’s opening session, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesian Minister of Defence and President Elect Prabowo Subianto are some of the other top leaders expected to speak.

Qatar’s Energy Minister and QatarEnergy CEO HE Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar Tourism Chairman Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Saudi Arabian Finance Minister HE Mohammed Aljadaan, Qatar Investment Authority CEO HE Mansoor Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer, Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson, HSBC Group Chief Executive Noel Quinn, Newcastle United FC Co-Owner Amanda Stevely and ExxonMobil Corporation CEO Darren Woods are some of the other top speakers.

BENEFICIARIES AND PARTICIPANTS

The QEF will benefit a diverse range of people, including government leaders, who can gain insights into trends in the global economy, exchange ideas on the development of policy frameworks, and explore opportunities to work together.

While business leaders will find the forum a great venue to network and advance their work, academicians and experts can put forth their views, share research findings and initiate discussions on multiple fronts.

There will also be no doubt hundreds of potential investors and those seeking financial help to launch their own start-ups or companies. A number of representatives of Non Governmental Organizations as well as members of the public will also be attending.
