WATCH: QL Visits the Qatar Animal Welfare Society
This episode of QL Flashback Friday features our visit to Qatar's first local animal shelter, QAWS, that opened its doors to hundreds of stray and abandoned animals back in 2004.
Over the years the shelter has grown leaps and bounds and is now home to more than 200 animals.
A non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of animals in Qatar, QAWS runs purely on public donations.
The shelter has thrived with the support of its staff, some exemplary volunteers and several concerned sponsors.
The shelter is home to different kinds of animals including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and other animals looking for a new home.
There are plenty of ways you can support QAWS such as by making a donation, getting involved in fundraising endeavors, or through sponsorships to support the society's rehabilitation and maintenance expenses.
If you're an animal-lover and would like to play a role in caring for these beautiful animals, why not join as a volunteer or become a foster caregiver.
It may well be a good idea to take a friend or your kids along to the shelter and give some of your time and attention to these cute animals who would be happy with the love they receive.
If you'd like to get in touch with Qatar Animal Welfare Society (QAWS), you can contact them at 5539 6074 or contact@qaws.org
You can also connect with them through their facebook page.
Do you know anyone who wants to adopt a pet? Share this video around to help these adorable animals find new homes!
