Qatar: Israel committed war crimes

Qatar has said that the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip amount to war crimes and those responsible for them should be held accountable.

This came in a statement delivered by HE Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Seif al-Thani, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, at the General Assembly meeting on “the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories”, which was held in New York on Wednesday, at the request of the Arab Group of States at the United Nations.

She said the Israeli attack is a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, as well as a violation of international humanitarian law and international law of human rights.

Reiterating Qatar’s “full solidarity” with the Palestinian people and their struggle for liberation from Israeli aggression to regain their inalienable legitimate rights, Sheikha Alia noted  that the attack on the Gaza Strip exceeded all norms and principles, especially the ongoing and systematic targeting of civilians and civilian facilities under the suffocating siege imposed by Israel on the Strip.

Sheikha Alia noted that the level of unprecedented criminality that has characterised the current Israeli aggression “has led to a clarification of the image before the international community, as to what is happening in Gaza is state terrorism by Israel and assault with intent.”

She referred to the targeting of civilians by the army,  the bombing the UNRWA schools that are being used as a shelter for children, women and the elderly and the most recent targeting of the UNRWA school in Rafah.

“This incident has led to international condemnation by countries worldwide  and also the UN Secretary-General has expressed that the targeting of the school in Rafah is a criminal act and a heinous violation of ethics,” she said.

Sheikha Alia stressed need to stop the military aggression on the Gaza Strip and find a lasting solution to the continued  humanitarian crisis in the Strip. She also stressed the need to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, and the opening of border crossings, in addition to the establishment of a commercial port.

Sheikha Alia stressed the need to provide financial and humanitarian support for Palestinian people. She praised the work being done by United Nations agencies, particularly the efforts by the UNRWA, under dangerous conditions to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza.

She stressed that the tragic situation in Gaza requires continued diplomatic efforts to stop the violence, and added, “The State of Qatar has participated in regional and international endeavours for immediate cessation of violence and ending bloodshed.”

Sheikha Alia welcomed the diplomatic efforts, which resulted in a 72-hour ceasefire proposed by Egypt and the call for negotiations in Cairo, aimed at reaching a sustainable ceasefire in a way that  achieves the demands of the Palestinian people, stops aggression, lifts the injustice on the Palestinians besieged in Gaza, meets their basic needs and restores their human rights.

Hamas end bomb? is I a a joke they don't have bombs and more importantly no one is bothered why they are fighting to end the siege, can you expect to live in a jail and make on voce against it ad pleaseeeeee who says people are dying everywhere so you should not raise voice against Israel? and I you have read history of middle east you know that how USA is trying to instigate war in that region everyone knows who provide weapons to ISIs and im not supporting ARab leaders they are just puppets. however before US have problems with Egypt or Syria or anyother country their people were living in peace and it is not USa job to change their government like they did in IRAq and now threw them in civil war. however the only liberation war is going on in Palestine and Israel is just murdering them this is ethnic cleansing. and please do no post inhuman post, even if you do not support the end of massacre

In the last ceasefire it was Hamas that sent a volley of bombs over the fence into Israel just minutes before the ceasefire began. When it ended, and people in Cairo were frantically trying to extend the ceasefire, Hamas threw over another handful of bombs just minutes after it ended. Who are the aggressors?
