As Qatar gears up to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 with its eight stadiums moving closer to completion, the country has secured yet another record-breaking success.

"Our team has broken the record for the fastest turf laying of a football pitch...completing it in just 9 hours 15 minutes!” the SC stated in a tweet on Friday.
The Committee further mentioned that the previous record was 13 hours 15 minutes made by Khalifa International Stadium.
In the space of just 13 and a half hours, the pitch measuring around 7,800 square meters was moved from the SC and Aspire Zone Foundation Turf Nursery and laid down inside the historic venue by a team of 40 specialists on site, according to The Peninsula.
The record broke the last held by the team who worked on Al Sadd Sports Club’s stadium in 2016 that finished the process in only 14 hours and 40 minutes.
Al Wakrah Stadium embodies a futuristic and bold design with a capacity of 40,000. It is said to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals and is a reflection of the country’s innovative and ambitious spirit.
The stadium is expected to be complete by mid of this year.
