Haven't seen anymore updates on QAWS other than they got their site clearance. Has clearing begun? What else has happened since then?

Great news, everyone who can should chip in. I know I will. I still have a kitten that needs to go somewhere...i hope that I will be able to do that before I move out in 2 weeks otherwise, I will need to find another solution.

Yes it's the same - there's only one QAWS in Qatar that has a logo with cats and dogs! Although the signs don't lead to much at the moment...

Cool, thanks for the update Chelsea. I was aware of the DEMK fundraiser tomorrow, but not the other two. I look forward to the furry critters having a brand new place to call a temp home soon! Good luck QAWS! :)

We had a last minute offer of heavy machinery last night and so the clear up has started this morning. Hopefully with the equipment we should have the majority of the site cleared over the weekend.

We're asking everyone, please do not go down to the shelter this weekend unless you have pre-arranged to meet a member of staff there as the trucks, JCBs and Bobcats are all operating and for health and safety reasons we can't have members of the public walking around - especially children!

Other then that we're in the process of looking for architects that can help with the design of the new shelter and meeting with construction people for site preperation advice.

There's also a lot of fund-raising occuring over the next couple of weeks:

Saturday 3rd October : Kids & Babies Table Top Sale

Friday 9th October : World Animal Day Celebrations (TBC)

Friday 16th October : Faisaliya Funraising Fiesta

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=138621531073&ref=nf

We'll let everyone know as soon as we have any idea of time frame, costs and plans of the new shelter!!
