D ring road closure,the aftermath!

By lamea

Since the D ring road has been closed we are experiencing heavy tarffic on the C ring road in particular. Suggestions would be appreciated. I mean alternative routes which may save time. Mention the starting point as well as the destination?

I know I have exactly the same problem! It has become a true nightmare to get things done during the day now with the D-ring closed! My suggestion is that you buy a map, the big one, not the tiny pocket map, and spend a day or so actually testing alternate routes. I have found that if you sometimes go into the residential areas, you can cut huge amounts of traffic.

My two cents. :)

closure of the D ring road is a part of the connnections to the new highway from landmark to the airport. Part the streches are being built at the moment I see the stretch near midmac flyover is same probebly one month ago. good luck happy driving

"(Good idea!

less risk of collision from black cruiser.

Have you watched the 5th element movie of Bruce Willis?)"

Hahahahaha...My response to you would have made perfect sense if you were asking about 'The 6th sense' and not 'The fifth element'. I should really learn to read posts before I comment on them...

I travel regularly from Al Sadd area to the Marriott. "C"- ring up to Ramada is chaos at any time of the day. I have found the best route to be down Al Rayyan Road from Sports R/A all the way to the traditional souq and then onto the Corniche or alternatively passed the Fire Station onto the Corniche. Coming back I use the same route.

Yes it is longer distance wise, but MUCH shorter time wise.

Good Luck

I was making my way to a place in the IA a few weeks ago and lo and behold the castle was gone.

Took me a while to figure out how to get into the darned place.

Time for a flying taxi service in Doha.

Yeah, .. that was the biggest roundabout ever here in Qatar. I was about to open a topic about it of the type guess what. Guess in which roundabout here in Qatar you can drive your car at 80KM/H in the middle of it? ... I was feeling lost when I get into it and get panic looking for an exit to escape it.

has been demolished since the past couple of months.

The authorities have made alternate routes to the industrial area and beyond.

I sincerely hope that the traffic situation becomes better once the road opens up.

I'm thinking of getting a helicopter license...there are no land cruisers or roundabouts in the sky...

i live on the D ring road and dread the C ring road. instead we have started using E ring road which is longer but relatively traffic free.

I am also facing the same problem. Big headache.

There's no escape, lamea. I live on C Ring and it's a nightmare leaving home most of the time.

My wife uses her feminine charm to get waved through, out neighbor uses the dirt waste space beside the road and I have to bide my time.

It depends where you're coming from/going to but if you need to pass Ramada signals you're stuck.
