Driver caught selling drugs to students

The Gulf Times reports that Al-Sharq reports that :

The Criminal Court in Doha has sentenced an Asian national working as a limousine driver to 10 years in jail on charges of selling marijuana to students, according to a report in the local daily Al-Sharq.

He has also been ordered to pay a fine of QR200,000 and be deported on completion of the jail term...

...He revealed that he had 12 envelopes in his car containing the substance to be sold to students for a sum of QR6,400 each. He later on disclosed the identities of the other three persons who were his accomplices.

After cross-examination they confessed to their modus operandi. They offered the substance to those who were regularly using their limousines for being dropped and picked up at the universities and schools. They also managed to mingle with students when they threw parties and offered the substance during those occasions, said the officer.

Call me naive but didn't realise this sort of thing went down like this in Doha...

Greenie FTW!! Vacationing in Qatar (1st time) from California & not being able to bring organic anxiety medication posed a huge problem on day one for a particular person in our group – and still a smaller problem for the rest of us. I’ve never gotten weed from an online forum… seems super sketchy – but I thought I’d try anyways. I e-mailed Greenie ( haha420kush@gmail com ) and within less than ONE HOUR all of our problems were solved. Of course prices were affordable – BUT THE BUD WAS JUST AS GOOD!!! I’m telling you —- strait chronic. IN Qatar! Greenie e-mailed me back ASAP, had a great way of getting me what I needed and even threw in some roll papers and a blunt for good business! So what did I do?? – called him again. Went through the sack another 1 oz time (haha typical) and needed more, so Greenie pulled through yet again. AND WITH MORE ROLL PAPERS!!! Greenie feels like my neighborhood “guy” – trustworthy and professional. I think some posts here are from unreliable vendors trying to rip off people, cuz you can tell this guy isn’t trying to rip anyone off – he’s actually running a legit business. E-MAIL GREENIE ( haha420kush@gmail com ) IF YOU’RE DEBATING IT, cuz I DID & I WAS IRIE IN ONE HOUR!! XD

Hey fellow stoners, Just got back from a week's worth of Qatar- not enough, let me tell you. But, the very first thing after landing was to email Biggiie ( haha420kush [add] gmail com ) and set up a delivery. Everything this guy did was perfect. Perfect delivery on time, perfectly brought to front of my hotel, perfectly included a damn lighter too! Nice, sparkly, top shelf green buds - probably just like the one we got in California and also in Amsterdam during our previous vacations. We even called for replenishment and delivery was prompt, within 20 minutes! Great deal made a great vacation. Do it, hit up Biggie ( haha420kush@gmail.com ) you won't regret it.

Perhaps it was medical pot. We should give him the benefit of the doubt.

...and that Moza makes my blood boil. Why are the authorities SO blind to the misdemeanours of elements within the Qatari population be it on the road or as in this case the back of a taxi??

Thats a rhetorical question btw - I dont expect anything approached a convincing explanation.

Marijuana shouldn't be sold to minors but other than that we need to end the disastrous world-wide prohibition on the good herb. There was a time , not that long ago , when hashish was widely used and accepted without much fuss throughout the middle east.

I'm assuming by the cost this was not the Bright Future Pakistani school, so you are probably looking at students with high disposable incomes, most likely Qatari. (Even western kids would say no to that price). So we can all guess if the kids will get prosecuted, er, I guess no.

bet the customers must have plenty of pocket money to afford that stuff! The guy must be happy he chose Qatar as a country to sell his wares. Some countries are not as forgiving!

if the users are students, i am guessing that most of them are not yet on the legal age, so i guess counselling or send them to juvenile homes, (do they have it here?) oh well, both pusher and user must be punished.

So keep off the grass people! :-P

Surely, as in other countries, you can only prosecute "buyers" if they are caufgt in the act. Even then, as many cases in the UK, they are let off with a warning :O(

What punishment, if any, was handed to the people buying and smoking the dope?

Or is it legal to buy and use, but illegal to sell?

I would like to jump on the naive bandwagon.

However it is easy to be hoodwinked as the papers normally only print happy stories about Qatar.
