hair falling HELP!

butterfly
By butterfly

I have noticed recently that my hair is falling A LOT, not sure if it's related to having given birth three months ago or the change of coming back to DOha (differfent climate, differnt water etc)...but I'm starting to panic about going bald!!!)

Any products that you may recommend in the market, oils, vitamins, hair masks, whatever, please share your tips to make hair healthier and stronger.

By the way, my hair is long (over shoulder) and wash it daily.

shampooed every day...strips the oils from it..about every two weeks use a good clarifying shampoo that gets rid of all the products that build up on the scalp and hair (yeah even if you just wash your hair, some of that stuff still stays due to its chemical make-up) Massage your scalp daily with the pads of your fingertips also..creates a lot of stimulation so that the roots get enough blood flow. (besides, if you get your husband to do it, it feels great!!! lol)

with mine, everyday i wash my hair (and quite handful that sheds, specially when i start combing it) but its like every other day that i shampoo it, and also quit using conditioner..and stress is also a big factor (this one is hard to avoid--but can be)...

just from looking at the ingredients in them, it sounds like a plant store, and might I add, root stimulator...(just kidding sweetie...too early for good humor yet!)

Some of the products I use that I find very helpful for thick and lively hair is:

1.Sunsilk Ginsing and Cactus Hair Oil

2. Nyle Nourishment Herbal Hair Oil

3.Sephora Professional Green Tea Shampoo and Conditioner

4. Botanics 5 mintue Deep Conditioning Hair Mask from Boots

I hope this helps!

My wife had similar problem after giving a birth, Dr. recommended her Nizoral Shampoo and Elocum drops (after bath) which worked very fine and her hair stopped falling within weeks... but I suggest you must check with Dr. first since there are so many different reason for the hair fall such as blood cell, tension, weather, pragnency/ birth etc ...

All the best

I tend to be anemic also, and sometimes I notice a lot more hair around the house than normal. I just make sure to eat more iron rich foods and everything is back to normal in a week or two.

thank you people for your input. I did lose hair with my first born, but I don't think it was as much as this time round, it seems to fall in handfulls!

I sure will pay a visit to the doctor's office. I do tend to suffer from anemia, so I will get back into the iron supplements. I have done a web search about thyroid problems and I don't relate to any of the common symptons other than hair loss (I am currently 50 kg, active and just generally healthy) but I guess there is no harm in checking my levels.

Anyways, if anyone had the same problem and found any supplement or hair product that actually helped to minimise the hair loss, share it!

Hopefully it will stop before I go bald :(

After our daughter was born my wife had the same problem. I dont like bald women so I took her to the doctor. Her thyroid levels were really out of wack. They did some treatments to get rid of some growths on the glands which were causing the glands to overproduce. A little thyroid medicine to balance the production levels and she was fine.

Are you eating enough Iron?? This can happen a lot in females who have a low iron level. Try eating more red meat or taking iron supplements.

I would consult a doctor first, since you have just given birth and probably are breastfeeding but I wouldn't worry as stress will make it a lot worse.

Also, washing your hair does not cause hair loss, everyone looses a certain amount of hair each day. It just seems like you loose a lot in the shower because thats when the already shed hair clumps together and is seen all together.

after childbirth is to be expected whether breastfeeding or not - and three months after seems to be the timescale. Happened to me each time dead on three months, continued for about six months, then stopped almost as suddenly as it started. Just keep yourself well nourished and rested, and as Scarlett suggests get thyroid checked to rule out any problems. I'm sure it will be okay.

My hair fell out like mad after I had my kids. I was breastfeeding too so I guess that didn't help. Doctor told me to keep taking my pre-natal vitamins. If I had to guess, I would say it took 6-8 months before it stopped. Don't worry.

that is one of the classic symptoms of low thyroid...plus you've gone through childbirth...your hormones are still in a turmoil..even tho its been 3 months...ask your doctor. Are you stressed more than usual..that again can be a factor...

If you aren't breastfeeding...try taking multiple vitamins made for strengthening hair. But first and foremost...ask your doctor..and GET THAT THYRIOD checked!!

Oops..almost forgot...its normal to lose up to 100 hairs per day(if I'm not mistaken!)...so you might be losing less than you think you are...

When you're pregnant your hair falls out less than at other times. After you've had the baby your scalp gets back to normal and the extra hair falls out. Just eat a good diet, look after yourself and don't panic.

I have some co-workers who are experiencing that situation, maybe it's because of the shampoo you are using. Falling hair is normal but if it is really serious ask for a medical advise.

Same thing is happening to me and people have suggested I not wash it daily.

Not sure what else to do...I've tried hair masks, oils etc, to no avail :(

I'm not sure myself but i did experienced it before. I changed my shampoo and lessen the use of conditioner.

it may also have something to do with the weather or the food you eat. Likje i said, i'm not sure...
