The Peninsula turns 14 today

PenQatar
By PenQatar

The Peninsula today celebrates its 14th birthday. While the mood is celebratory, it’s both ennobling and humbling to look back at the vast expanse we have traversed since the first edition of The Peninsula hit the newsstands on March 9, 1996.

It’s a tremendous feeling to see the stature we have gained and the unique niche we have carved out for ourselves over the years by not only remaining true to highest standards of the profession, but raising the bar for journalism in the country a few notches up. Our reporters have ventured into territory no other media dared tread to bring you news that really matters, our editors have gone the extra mile to make it more immediate and accessible to you.

It’s truly humbling to look at how we have grown in your esteem as a newspaper you can trust and respect. That, we believe, is because we have remained true to our DNA – the sharpest news coverage, incisive analyses and trenchant commentary from around the world, but with firm roots and primary focus on life in Qatar. We celebrate this day with a sense of pride, but we know we have many more miles to go. But rest assured, we are not the one to ever cease evolving.

Please respond to Novita77 and her link - and justify reference to your statement i.e. 'remaining true to highest standards of the profession".

I agree with your "unique niche", but maybe not from the same context as yourself.

i find the peninsula to be more of a tabloid than a mainstream newspaper, if Qatar had a huge base of LITERATE blue collar force then yes, peninsula would have had a huge market share, however its too lower mass for my taste, nevertheless happy birthday peninsula.

If you are doing your best you should be ashamed.

errors are all too common unless you are re-printing press releases.
