Qatar 2022 the preparation

It is disgraceful way Qatar is handling the showing of world cup matches this June and July. Due to the time difference most of the matches are on late, however the sports bars where we want to watch the game have to shut at 2am, which means they can only show the 1st half. Even if they stopped serving alcohol they should be allowed to stay open and show the 2nd half. The sports bars are now advertising showing the first half only, where you would have thought it would make sense to relax the rules for the duration of the tournament as we have many different nationalities who would be interested in watching the games live with company. It will be even worse in Ramadan when the bars will not even be open.
Total disrespect to football fans and not a good example to show the world for 2022 and their football hospitality.
Forget the bars, there will be some kick ass house parties starting late next month!
Anyway back to topic. We want our sports bars to be open so we can watch world cup matches! They tell the world they have a football culture and love football but then stop ordinary people enjoying the games in the same way millions do world wide.
Sorry boxe but no need to be rude, different people like different things. I am not asking you to join me at the bar as you don't like it. I just want to be able to watch the game with like minded people.
Qatar needs to get it's act together and be more welcoming to the world or 2022 will be a disaster.
Rip , We can still watch sports and enjoy our friends { or GFs } company . Drinking alcohol for hours has never been a prerequiste for looking at other people who are playing a game { to earn livlihood ... }. ........ Tue , 27.05.2014 , 09.19 hrs
Rip , Sports are for good health so you want innocent people to spoil it with the alcohol is deplorable .... .. Tue , 27.05.2014 , 09.10 hrs
Alcohol is legally available for sale in Qatar.
If you don't like it, maybe you don't like the government of Qatar's decisions.
Rippy..2 words for you and your boring post...1) shutup 2) get lost
Fubar , No doubt many of your kind will be driving on the Doha streets to their homes after they feel dizzy & sleepy .................... My prayers for those who comes your way ............................... ............................ Tue , 27.05.2014 , 10.00 hrs
Yes it seems house parties are the way to go, big TV, plenty of beer and some good ol pork ribs on the BBQ.
Galinda , With ED no friends , so no beer { because Khalli / Rip / Fubar never buy beer for themselves , they always depend on their friends , with ED no body would ever come close to ' these ' people } , problem will resolve by itself ..... waiting for the - peaceful neighbourhood - times to come ........... ............. Thu , 29.05.2014 , 11.30 hrs
Rip , May be you have friends who 'r Taxi Drivers and cleverly you want to bring them the business of carrying gentlemen home from the bars { whoever they may be - just for the point } . So there's a chance to make a few bucks as commission from them by giving them ideas from where to pick passengers with fat pockets. ..................................... Tue , 27.05.2014 , 11.10 hrs
Part and parcel of Living in Qatar :)
Rip : you been long in Doha to know that Bars/Alcohol are closed in the Holy Month and this year it coincides with WC2014.
Enjoy house parties!
Or someone can throw a wicked house gathering with a big screen TV + Bring Your Own Drinks. Unfortunately I don't have the space and the TV. Anyone willing to throw a football gathering as well as meeting like-minded people over a good game of watching football?
If you think the government shouldn't sell alcohol, write them a letter explaining that it's bad for health and causes ED and 'overhanging tummy'. If they keep selling it, it means the government disagrees with you.
When Qatar welcomes the world in 2022 lets hope boxe and MM are not on the welcoming committee, they will give a very bad impression of Qatar and will be hassling the women.
Legal but not 100%
Box, Learn to tolerate other people . I remember before also your 'r told to mend your ways on many forums .
Be civil . Control your language. You are taking too long to respond , man.
Galinda ur missing my point...qatar is not an open market for alcohol...but restricted to qdc n some hotels only...and there is drunk n driving law...to that extent I appreciate what the government is doing for the purpose of expats interested in alcohol
Do you think that cigarettes and sheesha should be banned too Riyal? Lots and lots of Islamic scholars think that they are haram.
Watch games , enjoy your parties that's fine. I would say refrain from consuming anything which may harm your body , you 'll feel later in the old age. Med. folks always warn us against alcohol & smoking.
Khali..no they wont..they r happy with the natural resources here
MM unfortunatley you are wrong, the people I see drink driving in Qatar are the muslims and some of them are Qatari. I have no problem with Qataris drinking in the bars but they should not drive home they should take a taxi.
Very true, religion misleading people since 2000 BC.
R2R , Thanks for the appreciation .......... Joys ...... Cheers ........ ......... Tue , 27.05.2014 , 11.36 hrs
Rip / Khalli / Fubar : Warning : Beer is a major cause of ED . Plus you have to carry your overhanging tummy.

It always surprises me that some people are so concerned by what other people do in closed rooms which these people will never enter, that they want to stop the other people doing what they wish.
Why does it say in any religion you must interfere in other people's lives even if they don't want you there?
Qatar needs to adapt to the people that live there and preach tolerance for all.
If the government didn't want foreigners coming here then they should have not bid for the World Cup. Its in the name, World, so you have to be hospitable and cater to all tastes.
Some of us like to have a beer and watch football with friends in a bar. It's not a crime and it does not hurt anyone, so live and let live.
It is my right to choose and I choose to watch games with like minded people with a couple of beers. I am not asking you to come and I am not forcing you. Have tolerance for others.
Who cares what you say...a drunkard like you will only care
Coffee should also be banned as it is a stimulant. In fact in mecca in the early days it was banned but after some protests the ban was lifted. Good to see Islam being flexible.
Nothing had changed, just QL design.
The old arguments continue, 7th year and counting :)
"No doubt"? Have you ever met me, or my 'kind'?
I doubt it, because I certainly have no desire to ever want to meet someone like you.
Galinda ...legally avaliable for sale where....qdc and some hotels...thats all...and what is the law if anyone gets drunk and create a nuisance.........may be u mean restricted sale
Hey Galinda , Are you from a preching centre ? Keep your religion to yourself.
RC, MM is a decent fellow . Sometimes people can't digest the amount of humour he injects on QL.
Galinda , Not like you crying about preachers and religion. Our life has to be a model to prove that we really care about changing the habits of the society. Be practical , focus on yourself , It's tougher than preaching.

Overhanging...u mean pregnant...lol
Khalli , Think about something else , other than beer ............ impossible ? ..... that's right ...... .................... Tue , 27.05.2014 , 11.35 hrs
Where did qatari...muslim come in this topic
Thank you for admitting that it's okay for people to choose to drink alcohol in a responsible way.
Maybe ur getting older....lol
Mm is a decent fellow...how do u know...is he ur boy friend
Do u think the government give a damn what rippy says...no
Rippy..why dont u talk to the government or approach media
It would be a big relief if Box goes off this site .
R2r.. welcome stalker...r u a gay or what. ..always back of my arse
So I can't preach about how cigarettes damage the body but other intolerant people can preach about alcohol!
That's just hypocrisy, and we know what religion says about hypocrites.
