Raids to enforce 6-hour work rule
Doha: The Ministry of Labour says it will conduct surprise raids on private companies to check for compliance of the 6-hour working rule during Ramadan.
As per the labour law, all private companies are required to abide by the six-hour working norms for their employees during Ramadan irrespective of their being Muslims or non-Muslims.
Some companies have asked their employees to work in one shift consisting of six hours while others, especially hospitals and clinics, have opted for two shifts, mornings and evenings. The evening shift will begin after Iftar, an Arabic daily reported yesterday.
ok start now.... We need action, Not Words!
Vegas - You are paid in US $. so you are happy :)
After my 12 hours shift...
just for show that they're doing something. In reality? As B2D says, how can we invite them to our company?

Kareena: I bet mine is the Best!! only 4 hours & its a Govt. Organization! ;)
i want to work in your company. :) We work regular hours, plus additional hours if we need to go to site offices. :(
is it a mandatory or discretion of the company?alhamdullila that our company is following a 6-hour working hours..
In Ramadan we work only five hours.. Some locations like Mesaieed from 7 to 12 while others in Doha from 8.30 to 1.30.. Muslims and Non Muslims alike.
I wish my husband would get to work less than 8 to 10 hours a day. Any day.
in my company they even released a memo saying that we should work regular hours even if its Ramadan... and they also released a memo that the company will no longer pay overtime even if some of my co-workers work at 3am up to 8pm or even longer... is there any hotline where we can ask information about this matter... all i read are news and not an actually disciplinary action to the companies that does not follow this law...
Do you work 6 hours a day in youe home country. don't complain. just work and earn your living.
Yah,I'm working 6 hours a day but the time sucks.. 9-1 during the day 9-11 at night.
is there a number we can call to place a complain or at least suggest a company whom they should raid? This isn't about being lazy, it's just about being fair. I am lucky enough to be in a company that follow the rules. But laws should be enforced, those who doesn't abide by it should be punished.I've got some friends who are forced to work more than what is required by the law and they don't get overtime pay, complain and get fired. That's just plain slavery.
just because we are lucky enough to have a job to survive doesn't mean that we don't deserve to have equal rights as human beings. or that we can't complain if something wrong is being done. just because it's the hand that feeds you doesn't mean you can take abuse from it.i do understand that we have to be considerate of our colleagues who are fasting, but should that include having to stay later than the non-ramadan hours to do the leftover work and/or redo work to correct the mistakes of the people who left early? oops, let out a lot of steam from where i'm sitting ;P
You are here to work irrespective of Ramadan or not. so work hard hard and earn your living without complaining. at least you should be happy that you have a job to survive. so don't complain. get back to work you lazies.
yup baldrick2dogs it is 2x6 hour shift or 12 hours per day 6 days a week, normally it is 6am to 6pm, but they need to let us out earlier somehow coz of ramadan, so they adjusted the whole timing 1 hour earlier...perfectly well thought out! hahaha...that is management!
can they check the government itself? as some need to work full hours for non muslim
Dext, that *could* be 2x6 hour shifts
why dont they try the new intercon tower near city center...working hours is 5am to 5pm...it is obviously posted at the main entrance of the project.
I want to invite them too..Damn!. Im workin from 10am to 12pm midnight.. with a 4hour break..
What are the working hours of those who check the working hours?
blah blah blah blah Start with my Company our office number is 44718708
How do we 'invite' them to our company?
Will they Raid the Airport because, Rules Implies for Everyone Isn't it...
officers at ministry of labor will leave works after 12 and sleep untill 6.30 , they will not work more than that . In alkhor industrial areas non-muslims are working normal work hours + over time , muslims will have to work 7 hours , ie two hours less than normal work hours , ruBBish
enforce now! go to our company, we have 7 hours a day during this ramadan. and the timing is ridiculous! (10:00-2:00 & 8:30-11) To think that we are in the office. grrr!!!!
enforced... its the same thing every year.
In my old company, we worked normal hours - up to 14 hours. Muslims would get 1 hour off to break fast.
