ok thanks so much.. i'm a newbie photography enthusiast, do you have a photo club here? I want to join. thanks
Light Room is nice and easy to learn. As regards downloading it, I have no idea. You can get a trial version direct from the Adobe website though. I bought mine from B&H.
ok.. thanks for th information is lightroom easy to use? cause i'm just using flicker when editing..(some very minor edits), do you any idea where to download it? thanks again
Checkout my photostream on Flickr for more http://www.flickr.com/photos/brian_candy/
jazooon I hate Photoshop with avengeance. I am a photographer not an artist. I use Adobe Lightroom for archiving and minor corrections. In one of my shots I have desaturated the colour to produce a B&W image, and in all the rest I expect that I adjusted the exposure, but other than that, these pictures are as I saw them through the viewfinder.
timebandit are you doing some post processing in those photos?
5 Star and 2 Thumbs Up stare :)
i remember this one, even if its quite sometime i still remember that silhouette shot you made with the torch.. time flies really fast... i saw this before when i was browsing the forum.. i didnt realized it was you sir.. very nice :)
OMG this was so long ago! ankaka thanks for digging up this old thread, I haven't seen these images in ages ;)
I love the one where the city rises behind the sand.
Nice image. Looks just like in the movies.
amazing pictures except the last one. You could have clenched your fist and held it exactly 3 inches below :)
excellent image capturing keep up the good work
uhmm, I'm not sure.. maybe better I bring it with me.. ;)
EOS what? There are loads. Anyway it doesn't mater as long as it's a DSLR. Of course I will show you how to use it. Will sort something out with you soon ;)
it's a Canon EOS if I'm not mistaken..
What camera do you have MJ?
TB, will bring our camera some time, teach me how to take good shots with it ok? ;)
I am always looking for people to pose for me. PM yer contact details and I will be more than happy to take some snaps of you.
wonderful pictures!!!! I knew Doha is beautiful but in your eye...it is lovelier! You capture the best of Doha-Qatar.How about a picture of me as your subject sir?????????
thanks for sharing....so excited to go out and look at these places.
timebandit, but art is a manifold subject, so of course you are an artist!:)
hmm TB, will let you know.. :P
can I wear an abaya on the photo shoot? ;)
Sure MJ you can count on it. And when are you going to come and model for me?
TB, when that happens, you'll give me an autographed copy of one of your shots ok? ;)
I wish they would Victory. I have had one of my UK images used by the BBC once, but I would love to get published properly. Especially here in Qatar.
These images are really nice and some should be picked up by Doha Tourism :)
hopefully, we'll see more of your work soon.. ;)
Congrats ..........Time bandit
keep it up.................
nomerci thank you for your praise. I would be an artist if I could paint, and this is the next best thing, so photography it is for me ;)
lol georgia. My boy is 21 and yes he is single. He is also back in the UK and thus... not much use to you ;)
this is a serious question... how old is your son?! is he single? ;)
timebandit, those are exceptionally nice photographs. IMHO the praise is most definitely warranted.
And I do have a good eye for colour and composition, as I am an artist myself, albeit I do not do photography.
Nice shots bro.I wish that I can learn that skills too.
well, I for one am impressed about the images you posted.. not pulling your leg or something, it was an honest compliment..
TB...your photographs are better than most posted on QL :-)
In fact, I think this thread should've made it to the homepage...
Thing is MJ I have never had compliments about my photography like this before. Are they really worthy of some of the comments left by people above? I am genuinely surprised by the whole thing.
now now TB, don't let it go to your head.. ;)
Blimey Speed... now my head is getting so big it's going to explode ;)
very facinating and refreshing pictures.. Photograhpy is not only a hobby but representing people or nature with the exactness and fidelity with your photographs.
keep it up :-)
was just being honest TB...
MJ now you are making me blush
can't get over these photos.. they're just so refreshing to look at.. :)
snessy you have just made me blush
nomad_08 you are quite right composition is one of the key ingredients of photography, and without putting too much thought into it, one of the few that technology cannot help you with.
TB you forgot to mention 'composition' which played a great deal in making your pictures look interesting to look at :-)
Oh TB, I have no idea what you're banging on about, but I think I may have just fallen in love with you a little :-)
There is no photoshoping performed on my images as I don't believe in using it. Over use of Photoshop stops being photography and starts becoming art.
However I do use Adobe Lightroom to adjust exposure and crop.
I use Cokin filters on the front of my lens to create some effects at the time of capturing the image which is accepted in true photography. I use a star burst filter on some of the night shots, and a graduated ND filter for shots like the Corniche Sunrise. A polarizing filter brings out the blues in the Souq shots.
Amazingly fantastic! Beautifuly done.. lovin' Doha more :)
Lovely pictures! :)
I will be more than happy to assist you snessy
Amazing. Love the photographs TB. you made me see Q in a new light.
Gardeners have the "green thumb", photographers have "magic fingers" or is it "magic perpectives"
TB...you may have to show me how to switch the bloody thing on too, I'm rubbish with that camera :-(
Much cuter than his dad =D
lol tinks.. :P
soniya my son was over visiting two weeks ago, and I snapped that one of him.

TB great shots. the best I have seen on Qatar so far
Thanks Tinker and dota, its always nice when I get compliments. Not to boost my ego, but just to assure me I am going in the right direction. Although the ego does get boosted a little hehehe ;)
Tbandit, I have to check first, that DSLR one that we got, I don't even touch it LOL...
I can't even manage good shots my Samsung digital one hahaha... I got no future in photography LOL
If U like MJ. What camera have you got?
TB, a crash course? ;)

You guys can have as many tips as you like ;)
Sness, I think TBandit should give us a few tips.. ;)
TB...I have a similar camera and my pictures definitely don't come out like yours, I'm thinking user error, whaddya think? ;-)

Snessy thank yo so much for the compliment regarding my boy ;)
And thank you everyone else for your kind words. Photography is something I really enjoy, but my camera is a cheap one, and my accessories are all on a very tight budget. Believe me when I say that anyone with a nudge in the right direction could have taken these shots. But you will not be able to snap them if you leave your camera at home. Carry your camera and set time aside to go and look for the shots.
Anyone wanting the settings for the above images can checkout my Flickr account that gives all the details for each image as wells as showing on a map the exact location the images's were taken from.
I am still star struck :) Love your night shots TB
Nomad, it does take skill, thats why I am asking him what he is shooting. Different settings make a great deal of differnce when shooting with a DSLR. especially night scenes like these.
I'ts got nothing to do with the camera, its more of the person behind the camera.
WHat are you shooting with and what settings for your night shoots....
Indeed very nicely and to the perfection taken................clarity matters and that is what can be seen from the efforts...............only thing missing perhaps is brief mention of all places visited.............it serves as a guide for others as well to expirience the same......................
TB, which Camera you got? Canon? Super snaps!
the last pic., i like it most hehehe =P
I see your son has got your good looks TB ;-)
