Ramadan is a time for spirituality, reflection, and fostering a sense of community and tradition. Cultural events during this Holy Month ranging from Tarawif prayers to community iftars and religious lectures, provide opportunities for Muslims to come together for worship, reflection, and celebration. They serve as reminders of the core values of Ramadan, including gratitude, empathy, and self-discipline, while also strengthening bonds within the Muslim community. Ramadan at Al-Mujadilah

Date: Till April 11, 2024

Location: Al-Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women, Education City

Get together at Al-Mujadilah to experience Ramadan in the comfort of an all-women's space.  Sheikh Fahad Al-Kandari will be leading Tarawih prayers at Al-Mujadilah. Sheikh Fahad Al-Kandari is a reciter of the Holy Quran from Kuwait and is the Imam of the Grand Mosque in Kuwait. In the last 10 days of Ramadan he will also be leading Qiyam prayers.  Isha and Tarawih prayers will begin promptly at 7:45 pm. Registration is not required. Open to all women and girls over nine. 

 

World Mosques in Postcards

Date: till April 10, 2024

Location: Katara Cultural Village, Building no 22

Katara is hosting an exhibition featuring postcards depicting mosques from around the world this Ramadan. The exhibition includes a selection of distinctive cards and commemorative stamps for the most famous mosques in Qatar including the Sheikh Mosque, Al Qubaib Mosque, the Omar bin Al Khattab and Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Mosque, Education City Mosque and Katara Mosque. Also included are Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, commemorative stamps from the Hajj seasons, Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock in Al Quds Al Sharif, the Great Mosque of Bani Umayyad in Damascus, and Al Azhar Mosque in Cairo The exhibition also includes postcards of the minarets of mosques in Libya, the official opening of the Ahmed Al Fateh Center and the House of the Qur’an in Bahrain, along with many famous mosques and religious institutions in Asian, European and African countries, such as Turkiye, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mali, Cyprus and Bosnia.

 

Khutbah by Mufti Menk at Education City Mosque

Date: March 22, 2024

Location: Education City Mosque 

Attend the Friday sermon by Mufti Menk at the Education City Mosque. Shaykh Ismail Menk will take us on a journey to discover the secrets of the blessed month which Muslims celebrate every year what it means to them. The sermon will be in English, and live Arabic translation will be provided.

 

Ramadan Festivities at Souq Al Wakra hotel

Date: March 19, 26, 29, April 5

Location: Souq Al Wakra Hotel

Attend lectures by Islamic experts like Sheikh Yahya Al-Raaby, Sheikh Abdur Raheem McCarthy, and Mrs. Farhat Naik on topics like Methodologies of Dawah, Last 10 days, What after Ramadan and The Night of Destiny.

 

Mentioned in the Quran

Date: till April 16, 2024

Location: Katara Cultural Village, Building no 18

Held in cooperation between Katara and the Qatar Photography Center along with a group of photographers, the exhibition includes a variety of photographs that represent multiple topics mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. It also includes Qur’anic texts to consolidate the religious link between the Qur’anic verse and the photograph.

 

The Spirit of Arab Craft

Date: till April 16, 2024

Location: Katara Cultural Village, Building no 18, Hall 2

The exhibition by Iraqi artist Bashar Ali celebrates calligraphy. It embodies the fruits and plants mentioned in the verses of the Holy Qur’an in a creative way, by forming the Arabic letter in which the Holy Qur’an was written through paintings using different techniques and materials.

 

Memorizing Quran Program

Date: Till April 1, 2024

Location: Al-Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women, Education City

Read, memorize and reflect on the Quran in this Holy Month of Ramadan. Join the intensive hifz classes to get motivated and reconnect with your spirituality. The program is available in both English and Arabic. Registration mandatory.

 

Flavors of Iftar

Date: Various days

Location: Al-Mujadilah Center & Mosque for Women, Education City

Join the Al-Mujadilah team for a Qatari Iftar experience and a heartfelt evening of connection, reflection, and unity during the blessed month of Ramadan. The series of Ramadan Traditional Iftars will be held on different dates over the month and will be lead by prominent Qatari women. Registration mandatory.

 

Distilled Lessons: Abstraction in Arab Modernism

Date: Till May 4, 2024

Location: Mathaf: Arab Museum Of Modern Art

This exhibition looks at how certain art experiments in abstraction, influenced by the Arab-Muslim heritage, have created artworks that stand out in Arab modernism. It shows how artists in the region have used calligraphy and ornamental patterns to come up with new ideas and styles in abstract art.
