The Holy Month of Ramadan is observed with great fervor and enthusiasm in Qatar, a predominantly Muslim nation. Taraweeh, the night prayer, holds particular significance during this time, with extended prayer sessions compared to the rest of the year. People of all ages, including women and older children, prefer to attend mosques for Taraweeh and Qiyam al layl (the late-night prayer during the last 10 odd nights of Ramadan) to join in congregational worship.

While most mosques offer dedicated prayer areas for women, some are more popular due to their accessibility, spaciousness, and convenience for female worshippers. Here is a list of preferred mosques for women to pray Taraweeh in Qatar this Ramadan.

Education City Mosque (Minaratein Center)

The Minaratein Center in Education City is home to the EC Mosque, a stunning building with unique architecture. Spacious prayer and ablution areas for women accommodate large numbers of worshippers. A comfortable seating area with chairs and benches allows women to read the Qur'an and other religious texts at ease.

This year, Sheikh Haitham al Dukhin leads the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at the EC Mosque. Prayers begin about 15-20 minutes after the Isha athan is called.

Location: Education City, Ar-Rayyan

Imam Abdul Wahab Mosque (Grand Mosque)

The Qatar State Grand Mosque, also known as Imam Abdul Wahab Mosque, is one of the country's largest mosques and is cherished by families. The night congregation prayers feel even more special, as a significant number of worshippers gather for the night prayer. The women's area is expansive, and the ablution areas cater to those with special needs.

Location: Al Muhandiseen Street, Lejbailat

Al Shouyoukh Mosque

Situated near Souq Waqif and in the vicinity of Amiri Diwan, Al Shouyoukh Mosque is another excellent option for Taraweeh in Qatar, especially for those living in central Doha. The mosque welcomes women and children, hosting nightly congregational prayers and Qiyam al layl during the last 10 odd nights of Ramadan.

Location: Al Qasr street, adjacent to Souq Waqif

Msheireb Mosque

Located in Msheireb Downtown, near Souq Waqif, Msheireb Mosque offers a spacious area for women to pray. Its high-walled ceilings, reflecting Downtown architecture, provide excellent acoustics for prayer and sermons. The building is accessible, with special ablution areas and an elevator to the first floor. Children are welcome as long as they don't disturb other worshippers.

Additionally, Msheireb Downtown has two other mosques with accessible female worship areas: Msheireb Grand Mosque (North) and Msheireb Downtown Grand Mosque (South).

Location: Opposite Msheireb Museums, Msheireb Downtown

Uthman bin Affan Mosque, Al Khor

Uthman bin Affan Mosque is a prominent, long-standing mosque in Al Khor and is popular among worshippers. Families in the area attend for their Friday and nightly congregational prayers. The female worship area can accommodate a considerable number of worshippers.

Location: Al Khawr town road, Al Khor

Al Wukair Grand Mosque

Popular among residents of Al Wakra and Al Wukair, the Wukair Grand Mosque is spacious and hosts a large number of worshippers. Women can pray comfortably in the designated area and participate in Taraweeh prayers. As parking can fill up quickly, plan to arrive early to avoid missing the congregation.

Location: Al Wukair Road

Al Mana Mosque

As Lusail City’s first-ever mosque, Al Mana Mosque is a striking structure that has become a go-to place for worshippers in the area. Also known as Lusail Marina Mosque, the mosque is open daily for men and women to perform Taraweeh. The women's prayer area, located on the first floor, also provides access to a library with Islamic texts and the Holy Qur'an. Children under 7 years of age are not allowed during the night congregation prayers to minimize disturbances.

Location: Lusail Marina Promenade

Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad II Mosque

A long-standing mosque frequented by many worshippers, especially women during Ramadan, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Hamad II Mosque offers a decently-sized female prayer section for Taraweeh prayers.

Location: Al Hurriya street, Old airport area
