Ramadan 2023 in Qatar: All you need to know

Everyone in Qatar looks forward to the fasting month of Ramadan culminating in Eid al-Fitr, one the most important religious festivals for Muslims. Ramadan 2023 is set to be an impressive affair with Qatar home to several cultural experiences enriching to the beauty of this occasion. Here is everything you need to know about Ramadan 2023 in Qatar.

When is Ramadan 2023?

This year, Ramadan will tentatively begin on March 22 and end on April 20. The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) will announce the exact date based on sightings of the crescent moon and astronomical predictions closer to the date. Awqaf will also announce the prayer timings for the taraweeh (nightly congregational prayers) for the month.

Work hours for public sector and government during Ramadan

During this month, employee work hours are slightly shortened (five hours) to let citizens and residents schedule their prayers, iftar and suhoor timings accordingly. The Amiri Diwan announces the work hours for all government offices, ministries and public sector employees.

The work hours for Ramadan 2023 have been announced as 9 am to 2 pm.

School operational hours

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) announces school hours for public schools. Most schools operate from 9 am to 1 pm or 1:30 pm.

Awqaf is all set to host 10 iftar tents in different parts of the country, which can accommodate up to 10,000 fasting people in a day.

Al Baraha Restaurant, overlooking Al Najada Square, will provide gourmets for those looking to relish the most delicious Arab and international cuisine through the luxurious daily iftar buffet in an exceptional atmosphere inside the restaurant or in its outdoor courtyard.

“Al Baraha” will welcome kids under six years to enjoy the buffet for free, while those below 12 will be entitled to get 50% discount. To share with the guests the best of Ramadan, Al Najada Hotel is offering a 10% discount on the booking of 10 persons or more, and 15% off for groups over 50 people.

LPM Restaurant and Bar

LPM Restaurant and Bar Doha, Al Maha Island, Lusail, home of French Mediterranean cuisine, invites guests to enjoy a special Iftar menu during the holy month of Ramadan. The Iftar menu boasts a wide range of Mediterranean flavors designed to bring family and friends closer together as they break their fast during the auspicious observance.  Guests can enjoy a delectable meal which includes a welcome drink, soup and dates, a selection of four starters to share, along with one main course and one dessert per person. 

In line with traditional customs, the soup and dates provide a start to the meal, while the selection of starters and a main course ensure that guests will find a variety of dishes that will cater to their tastes. The starters include iconic dishes such as the Butter Bean Dip with Aioli and Quinoa, the Burrata with Cherry Tomatoes and Basil, Warm Prawns with Olive Oil and Lemon Juice and the Salt Cod Croquettes with Roasted Pepper Relish. 

The Iftar menu main courses provide a selection between delicious dishes such as the Marinated Baby Chicken, Homemade Rigatoni Pasta with Tomato and Chili, the Grilled Sea Bream with Sauce Vierge and Coriander, and the renowned LPM Marinated Lamb Cutlets with Olive and Aubergine Caviar and Pine Nuts. In addition to the Iftar menu, LPM Doha will also be offering the Broccolinis with Chili and Ginger and the Potato Gratin side dishes at an additional QAR 30. 

The meal ends on a sweet note with a selection between the Crispy Apricot Tarte with Pistachio Cream, the Chocolate and Hazelnut Choux and the Vanilla Crème Brulée.

Additionally, LPM Restaurant offers Suhoor meal service until 2 am with a la carte option.

RAMADAN SOUQ AT HILTON DOHA THE PEARL

Experience Ramadan in all its glory as Hilton Doha the Pearl invites you to explore their traditional Ramadan Souq as they honour Arabian hospitality with a brand new concept. 

 Have Iftar or Suhoor outdoor next to the pool, as you dine under the stars and let the iconic Hilton hospitality take its course.
