Ramadan 2023 is right around the corner and preparations are underway for the holy month. Irrespective of their religion and ethnicity, Qatar residents and expatriates like to take part in the month-long festivities and make the most of this special time. Right from shopping for Ramadan décor, and traditional clothing, getting children excited for the month, and enjoying some of the best iftar and suhoor deals, there is a lot of excitement for Ramadan in Qatar. The community likes to get decked up in Ramadan special clothing, especially for Garangao.

Traditional clothing like thobes, bishts, kaftans, abayas, jalabiyas and traditional accessories like jeweled head caps and ghitras are widely available in the market. Here are some of the places that stock up on traditional clothing for Ramadan as well as Garangao.

Souq Waqif

Souq Waqif is the most obvious choice for anyone looking to get a good amount of shopping done, especially for Ramadan. Take a stroll through the Souq’s labyrinthine alleyways and find yourself amidst shops that sell traditional clothing including abayas, jalabiyas, bishts, thobes, alongside prayer dresses, prayer mats, prayer beads, oudh, incense, and more. Many shops even offer materials that can be bought and tailored as per your choice.

Souq al Asiery

Souq al Asiery is located in the vicinity of Souq Waqif and houses many shops under its complex. Take some time out to walk through the shop lanes and find the right stores for your outfit needs. There are several shops and textile houses where you can get fabric for your preferred budget and quality and have them tailored according to your size. Most of the shops have an in-house tailor with them who will offer their stitching services to you and get your outfit ready in little time.

Souq Faleh

Souq al Faleh is a great place to head to especially if you are shopping for abayas and traditional kaftans and jalabiyas. Not only are there many shops that sell traditional garments for women and children, but they also offer tailoring and customizing option for the clothes you buy.

Ansar Gallery

Ansar Gallery is also updated with the latest trends in Qatar and the stocking of their traditional clothes section is also equally at par with this. They offer a range of different kaftans, abayas, children’s traditional clothing, thobes and more at affordable prices and great quality.

Ramez

Ramez is a one-stop shop for all your needs and this includes traditional clothing as well. They also stock up on traditional clothing for Ramadan, Garangao and Eid. The range of jalabiyas, abayas, thobes, and outfits for kids are reasonably priced too.
