Job Offer from An Energy Company in Qatar

I got an offer as a section head of a team in QE with grade 16. The benefits are 28K base salary, 2K transportation, 12K housing allowance (if not staying in the provided accommodation) and non-guaranteed 1-2X performance bonus.

With this offer, it is still less than my current salary after tax.

I worked in Abu Dhabi from 2009-2011 and understood well in other allowances and working environment.

However, I am curious whether it is possible to negotiate to somewhere close to 35K base salary or to grade 17?

Thanks for all your comments and suggestion in advance.

@Kevin_Daddy Hi, i was wondering if you managed to negotiate the salary with QE and if you accepted the role. If you don't mind me asking what was the role title. I am in a similar position at the moment for a Lead engineer role at the moment

Regards

@goodlittleboy,

Thanks for your comments. Although I have my own ideas to work through this process, your guidance is still better than nothing.

What I am looking for is just numbers and more information which are useful for my negotiating strategy.

And it is obvious to me you do not have them; however, thanks for spending zour time to my post.

Several things:

First, if the salary being offered is lower than your current salary after tax, why then bother to come over to Qatar? Personally, I believe there is nothing like your own home or your own country.

Secondly, since you believe the offer does not meet your expectations, you should put your feet down and negotiate with the company. They are the ones who know the limits they can go to. I am sure you are well aware that each company has their own salary brackets for a position.

Thirdly, from your post I guess you are a westerner. Is my guess correct?
