It all depends on the designation on your Qatar ID. You may be working as a Marketing Manager but if your visa through which you company brings you to Qatar is that of tailor or a cook or a translator for example, you will not be entitled to a driving license. So you must make sure from your employers if the visa they are issuing to you allows for a driving license. Yes, it may take you some time to get hold of a Qatar driving license. However, bus services, taxis and now with the metro, transport should not be a problem at all.

Hmmm, how about a marketing manager?

I hope the driving school system is not as leangth as in dubai.

Your UAE driving license will not be recognized in Qatar. You will need to join a driving school here after you have received your Qatar ID and go through the process at the driving school. Please note some categories of visas are not eligible for a driving license here.
