What plans for the weekend? Here's what you should check out!

The hot summer days are far from over, but there's still quite a lot you could do this weekend including some outdoor stuff (if you're up for it) in the evenings. Check out our quick guide of happenings around Doha.
Date Festival
The annual dates festival is set to open to the public today at Souq Waqif. The event organized by Ministry of Municipality (Baladiya) has been a popular hit among residents and features a variety of dates from Qatari farms.
The event is expected to run for 10 days and will be open to visitors from 4pm - 6pm. Entry is free and will take place in an air-conditioned tent so don't worry about the HEAT!
Qatar Summer Festival
The summer festival has been running since June 25th and will continue to run until September 5th. Doha Exhibition and Convention Center is currently hosting the festival with a range of activities for the entire family. Is there a better way to beat Doha's summer heat?
With over sixty activities, it's a place your kids will want to visit more than once. Catering to all age groups, you can expect to find bouncy castles in all themes and sizes, trampolines, and an inflatable human obstacle course.
This weekend, there will be a special basketball performance by Dunking Devils at DECC. They will perform on Friday and Saturday at 6pm, 7:15pm and 8:30pm.
No special entry fee for this performance, just the QAR15 to enter the Entertainment City.
Fuwairit Beach
Now for some outdoor options. Since the turtle breeding season is almost over, you can now check out Fuwairit beach, one of the best beaches in the country. Although the beach only opens on August 1 officially, you should still be able to access the beachside.
Just keep one important thing in mind though - cleanliness! Keep all the trash with you.
Souq Al Wakra beach and Corniche
Go for a relaxing stroll through Souq Al Wakra's newly-opened beach (pictured above). The weather this weekend should be quite bearable with a relatively low humidity. This could eventually become your favorite hangout spot during the cooler winter months come October.
So what are your plans for the weekend?
