WATCH: Qatar Living interviews football legend Gilberto Silva

Gigi from our Qatar Living team had the privilege to interview football star Gilberto Silva. A former Arsenal player, he earned the title "Unbeatable", and played for the Brazilian team when they surged to FIFA World Cup victory in 2002.

He is one of the most successful Brazilian players in English football history.

Qatar's recent victory at the Asian Cup in the UAE was one of the country's greatest sports triumphs in its history. Silva, who was here in Qatar when the momentous win took place, shared his opinion about the match and its importance for the country as the host nation of the 2022 World Cup.

He also highlighted the importance of programmes like Aspetar Sports Academy in Doha, and their role in coaching young aspiring athletes. Having grown up in poverty without the privileges of sports facilities like these, Silva voiced his support for sports education and motivating children.

Silva owns his own sports company, which takes care of players, helps them develop their career and provides a channel for him to give them advice and work closely with them.

Silva ended the interview with a positive message for Qatar and its people in light of FIFA 2022, congratulating the country and its players on their progress so far.
