WATCH: Team Qatar at the 2018 Asian Games - a recap
The Asian Games 2018 Jakarta Palembang proved to be a success for Qatar on many fronts. 6 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals were brought home, with Qatar’s athletes competing across 30 disciplines.
To cap it, Qatar Airways was the official airline of the 18th Asian Games, the highly-anticipated sporting event that brought athletes from 45 participating nations to compete for Asian glory.
Athletics
Hassan Abdalelah grabbed the gold in Men’s 400m, and joined Samba Abderrahman, Abbas Mohamed and Mohamed Mohamed in clinching gold in the 4 x 400 m relay. Samba Abderrahman also brought home gold in Men’s 400 m Hurdles, while Elseify Ashraf won gold in the Men’s Hammer Throw.
Ogunode Tosin won silver in the Men’s 100m, Baghrab Yaser in the Men’s 3000m Steeplechase; and Abdalla Abubaker took home bronze in the Men’s 800m.
Men’s Handball and Beach Volleyball
Qatar’s Men’s Handball team won gold, while Janko Ahmed Tijan and Samba Cherif Younousse brought home gold medals in Men’s Beach Volleyball.
Equestrian
Ali Al Thani won a silver medal in the Jumping Individual caters for Equestrianism, while Qatar’s Equestrian Jumping Team brought home the bronze.
Weightlifting
Fares Elbakh clinched silver in the Men’s 94kg category.
Shooting
Hamad Ali Al Marri won bronze in the Double Trap Men’s category.
