QBF partners with Bsporty to further enhance grassroots development of basketball
As part of its efforts to further enhance the ease of playing the game and encourage increased participation in the sport, the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) yesterday signed an agreement with a Qatari start-up, Bsporty, the developer of the soon-to-be-launched app that helps people book training or playing courts and connect people with similar interests for basketball matches.
The app, which offers the most comprehensive categories of sports, also provides an e-commerce platform to enable the buying and selling of sports items.
Speaking at the ceremony, QBF Secretary-General Ali Saeed Al Malki said the federation is happy to partner with Bsporty to simplify things for everyone involved and bring the game closer to the people.
“Right now, we get many enquiries regarding the availability of our basketball courts, especially during weekends. This app will streamline the booking process and help simplify it. We were convinced about the app’s potential from the start, and we’re happy to be the first national sports federation to sign up with them,” he said.
Explaining the concept, Sheikh Suhaim bin Ahmad Sultan Al Thani, CEO of Bsporty, said, “The popularity of sports activities in Qatar has been going up every day. We wanted to give enthusiasts a common platform to inquire about and book sports halls and grounds anywhere in the country. The agreement with the QBF is the first step in that direction,” he said.
“We’ve initiated conversations with almost all major national sports federations in the country, and we’ll start signing them one by one soon. We’ll launch our app before the 2021 Arab Cup. Once we do that, people can book training and competition venues through it. There won’t be any more confusion regarding availability or pricing,” he added.
