Top Qatar sporting events to see in January 2023

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has released the schedule of sporting events for the entire year of 2023. With nearly 81 sporting events that include 14 major international competitions, the year is set to be an exciting one for sportsmen in the country. January looks promising with a line-up of eight such tournaments in Qatar.

1st Qatar Asian Junior Tournament—Tennis (14 years and under)

Hosted by Qatar Tennis Squash & Badminton Federation, this is the first Qatar Asian Junior Tournament for tennis players of age 14 and below.

Date: January 9 — 15

Location: Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex

King of Court Championship—Beach volleyball

This one is organized by Qatar Volleyball Federation and Doha is hosting the second of the annual King of Court Crowne Series finals.

Date: January 11 — 14

Location: Aspire Park

WTT Contender

The World Table Tennis Contender tournament is organized by Qatar Table Tennis Federation and will host men’s and women’s singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles.

Date: January 15 — 21

Location: Lusail Sports Arena

2nd Qatar Asian Junior Tournament—Tennis (14 years and under)

Hosted by Qatar Tennis Squash & Badminton Federation, this is the second Qatar Asian Junior Tournament for tennis players of age 14 and below. This will follow-up immediately after the 1st series in the tournament.

Date: January 16 — 22

Location: Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex 

1st Doha ITF World Tennis Tour—Junior

Qatar is hosting the ITF World Tennis Tour for juniors in Qatar.  

Date: January 23—28

Location: Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex 

Doha Stars Artistic Gymnastics Championships

This event is hosted by Qatar Gymnastics Federation.

Date: January 26 — 28

Location: Federation Hall, Messila

Elite Finals beach volleyball event

Another event is set to take place in the same month, organized by Qatar Volleyball Federation.

Date: January 26 — 29

Location: Aspire

Fencing Grand Prix—Epee

The FIE Grand Prix Epee 2023 will be hosted in Qatar by Qatar Fencing Federation. The category will be for Epée Senior Individuals.

Date: January 27 — 29

Location: Aspire

QSF 2 PSA Challenger series

This will be hosted by Qatar Tennis Squash & Badminton Federation.

Date: January 29 — February 2

Location: Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex
