The Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA), which is part of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, held the largest Qatar East-to-West Ultra marathon to date on Friday, December 10th.

This year's 16-hour marathon, which was accessible to both professional and amateur runners, attracted over 650 runners from 59 countries.

Mohsen Zitouni completed the race in first place in the men’s singles category after crossing the finish line in with a respectable 6 hours, 50 minutes, and 15 seconds.

Finishing right behind Zitouni was last year's winner, Nasr El-Din Mansour, with a time of 6 hours, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds. Roble Josephat rounded off the podium and finished third with a time of 7 hours, 8 minutes, and 45 seconds.

In the women’s category, Russell Ueuro claimed first place after finishing in 8 hours 22 minutes 42 seconds. The second spot was secured by Sarah Talia, with a time of 8 hours, 41 minutes, and 13 seconds, and Jenny Lawler finished third with a time of 9 hours, 39 minutes, and 26 seconds.

In the team category, the Police Institute team finished the race in a hasty 4 hours, 59 minutes and 1 second to secure the first place, followed by the Beauty team with a time of 5 hours, 3 minutes, and 55 seconds. The Police College team came in third with a time of 5 hours, 13 minutes and 54 seconds.

QSFA had advised participants that being in good health and meeting certain fitness criterias were crucial as the 90 km race would test the endurance of the runners.

The marathon began in the Sheraton Park and ended at Dukhan Beach. The organizers also arranged for five rest spots along the way where runners were offered refreshments.
