Moving to Qatar

Hello Everyone,

I am currently living in Kuwait and will be moving to Qatar to join QR on the 30th of November. I have a couple of questions and would really appreciate if the lovely people at Qatar Living can help me out.

* My Qatar company had initially asked me to supply them with a cancellation of my Kuwaiti residency, to which I informed them that I wanted to keep my Kuwaiti residency, as I want my kids to finish their term exams and then move to Qatar later. The company agreed to my request and asked me to keep the residency for the time being, but in case there were problems in issuing my QID, then I would have to rectify this situation later. I wanted to know if there would be a problem in getting a QID if I already have a Kuwaiti Residency. Is this a thing? Optimally, I want to hold a valid Kuwaiti residency for at least one year in order to tie up any loose ends, especially since I was born and brought up in Kuwait, where I have lived for the past 37 years. Also keeping my Kuwaiti residency and facing a problem in issuing a QID later on would put me in a problematic situation, as I would probably have to travel back to Kuwait in order to cancel my residency and obtain the cancellation papers. So if that is the case, then I would have to rethink how I can make my move?
* My second question is usually how long does it take to get a QID in Qatar? The company mentions 3 to 6 weeks, but says sometimes it takes longer sometimes it is faster. I would need to live in a hotel apartment or hotel until they get my QID and this would end up being pretty expensive for me. Is there any way to start renting a full time apartment without a QID?

I would really appreciate if you guys can help me out and give me your suggestions and any information about the above.

Thanks
