My Parents' Hayya Visa can't be extended

I have my parents come over to Qatar for originally 1 month but we wanted to extend it for 10 more days. We went to the Airport Passport Department and they said that for extending they need a hotel reservation from Discover Qatar but we have opted for hosting our parents. Has anyone experienced this similar incident? Any info would be really useful

Did you get them with locally available hayya (Resident's Hayya) or Internation Hayya? international hayya no needs to extend since it still have the expiration period until 2024 (Jan / March)
