By Qatar Living

Qatar is host to some of the most scenic beaches with some of the best memories of locals and expats being made here. From spotting marine life to camping on the beach, public beaches have always been popular in the country. Weekdays or weekends, people of Qatar will find a way to that beach side! While we have already covered family beaches in the country, we present to you some of the most popular public beaches to explore in Qatar

Al Ghariya beach

A sandy beach in the North of Qatar, Al Ghariya beach is a sandy oasis where you can enjoy quite a few camping options along with some beach sports.  The beach, despite not having any concrete facilities, is a popular destination for campers and even people who enjoy sports activities, given you have your own gear as well.

If you're looking to amp up your experience, the Al Ghariya Beach Resorts can also be located nearby where you will be spoiled by apartments, chalets, and villas.

Fuwairit beach

Fuwairit beach has recently been getting a lot of attention due to the recent hawksbill turtles being released into the sea. Fuwairit beach is famous for turtles laying eggs here from April - July season and is usually closed during this time. However, once open, it is one of the most popular destinations for kite surfing in the country.

With the limestsones and tiny rocks along the shore, everyone is advised to wear comfortable shoes. The sandy white beach, as photogenic as it is, does not offer much so you have to come equipped with your own condiments here. You won't find stores, restrooms and restaurants here so you have to be fully equipped for this trip.

If you're planning on camping here, be sure you catch the sunrise from the beach, with its natural scenery and gentle breeze making your trip worthwhile.

Maroona beach

Also popularly known as the French beach, Maroona is a small little escape in northern Qatar. A nature treasure, the soft sand with its glorious waters welcome all types of sea creatures - starfish, hermit crabs, fishes and even turtles if you're lucky, As there are no refreshment options nearby, a trip to Maroona needs to come fully equipped. You can even grab the snacks on the go as you will come across unlimited options for snacks on the way to the beach. Make sure you have your own umbrellas or any other shades as its basically an isolated beach. Given the soft sand, you will also find it slightly difficult to pitch tents here. However, if you go at a little later in the evening, you can enjoy the cool breeze and get the best of Maroona's pictueresque qualities.
