Qatar’s love for beaches remains unparalleled as it is a geographically placed in a unique position offering oceanic views on three sides. With this, the latest new beach—Ras bu Abboud beach—is a great new addition to the country’s repertoire of scenic beaches. Also known as the 974 beach, Ras bu Abboud beach has been a part of a development project by Ashghal’s Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads & Public Places in Qatar along with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. The beach is also set to welcome residents and fans during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and beyond.
Main attractions
The Ras bu Abboud beach 974 has a capacity of 5,000 and covers a stretch of 1.5 km. The beach is well-equipped with facilities including restaurants, kiosks, outdoor showers, and even water sport activities. Visitors can also swim and relax by the sands while enjoying an unobstructed view of the Doha West Bay skyline.
The beach also has dedicated paths for pedestrians as well as cycling, bike racks, benches, shades, and sun beds. The green cover for 974 beach is around 15,000 sq.m and features close to 512 trees.
Ashghal has also enabled safety on the beach with the installation of a Wi-Fi service, surveillance cameras, and a high-tech lighting network.
Where is it and how to get there?
The Ras bu Abboud beach 974 is located right near Stadium 974. The location is accessible by Doha Metro’s Gold Line at Ras bu Aboud Station, from where one can take a shuttle bus to the beach.
Only 255 parking lots are available so it is better to plan ahead as the lots could fill up fast.
