Explore these family beaches in Qatar

With just a few more days of good weather before the scorching summer heat takes over, Qatar has some of the finest beaches youre sure to enjoy, so be sure to head over to your favorite beach and make the most of the pleasant weather. A beach trip is an ideal outdoor outing with family or friends this weekend, where you can enjoy a nice evening barbecuing, swimming and lounging by the sand.

Here is a list of some great family beaches to check out in Qatar.

Al Wakra Family Beach

Al Wakra Family Beach tops everyone’s list of favorite beaches to visit in Qatar owing to its convenience and scenic views. The beach offers some stunning sunrise views and the waters are pretty shallow. That makes it ideal for swimming for adults and kids. The beach has a children’s play area, mosque, shower facilities and washrooms too. Barbecue and grill equipment is allowed but it is not allowed to have an open fire and embers in the sand for everyone’s safety.

Location: Al Wakrah Municipality

974 Beach

The glistening beachfront along Ras Abou Abboud is the 974 beach and is a great option for a beach visit still within city limits. The beach offers paid entry and exclusive access to the waterfront, several games, and fun activities for the entire family. There are umbrellas and sunbeds to lounge by, lifeguards on standby, live DJ music, and food and beverage kiosks too. Plan a trip to 974 for a relaxed day out with the family. It is also one of the few metro-accessible beaches via the Doha Metro’s Gold Line at Ras Abu Abboud. Get down at the station and wait for the shuttle bus that takes you to the beach’s entrance.

Timings: 10 am to 6 pm

Entry: QAR 35 for adults and QAR 15 for kids (0-12 years)

Safa Al Touq Beach and Park

An off-beat choice but definitely a good place for families, Safa Al Touq Beach and Park is ideal for a day away from the bustling city for some peace and quiet. The beach has a green grassy stretch, a children’s play area and a mosque too.

Location: Al Khor

Al Mamlaha Beach (ladies only)

A trip to the beach with your girl besties is long overdue and Al Mamlaha beach is perfect for this getaway. The beach allows only entry to women and children under the age of 10. Unwind with your girls and family members at this beach, swim in the clear blue waters, or just lounge by the soft sands.

Sumaysimah Family Beach

Another good option for families to head to is the Sumaysimah Family Beach. The beach is dotted with small gazebos that you can set up camp under. There are public toilets and everything is clean and well-maintained. Set up a barbecue and sit back to relax with your loved ones here. The beach even has solar-powered lights so staying back after sunset is also convenient.

Katara beach

Katara Beach is another popular private beach to visit with families within Doha city. The beach has much to offer for all including several kiosks serving food and beverages, local handicrafts and more. There are multiple water sports also available such as parasailing, boat ride, dhow boats, wakeboarding, water skiing, kayaking, pedal boats and more. Swimming is not allowed after sunset, The beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas (available for rent) for comfortable lounging.

Location: Katara

Al Thakeera beach

Al Thakira Beach is a delightful beach to visit before the weather turns hot. The beach has great walkways, jogging paths, comfortable benches,  pristine waters and clean, soft sands—all making for a pleasant beachside experience. The proximity to the mangroves doesn’t make it ideal for swimming but it is definitely a nice fishing spot. The views are pretty good so make sure to click lots of Instagram-worthy pictures.
